Giving this place a 1 star rating is too generous, but unfortunately it doesn't allow for a 0. A coworker of mine recommended it to me and said she enjoyed the food very much. My girlfriend and I were close by and decided to try them out. The wait time was 30-45 minutes, nothing out of the norm for weekend evening at any restaurant. The Yelp wait list the restaurant utilized was very accurate as to how many parties we had in front of us. At least we have one good spot in this review.
We went back inside with 2 parties ahead of us. Shortly after a lady with her daughter in front of us became upset another party of 2 was seated before them even though they had been on the wait list longer. They left frustrated, but we decided to stay anyway. The hostess asked us if we would like to sit at the bartop table. We declined and said we didn't mind waiting a little longer for another table. She moved on to the next party. We thought they would be seated at the table we passed on, but they were taken and seated at another table in the restaurant. My girlfriend became very annoyed, but I still decided to stay and give them a try. The hostess sat another party of 2 at the bartop a few minutes later, then shortly after took us to a table at about 6:10.
Our server was friendly and engaging, the 2 times we saw her. We placed our drink orders for a sweet tea and lemonade and also for the shrimp dip appetizer. We sat and talked for a while watching other parties be seated, have their food and drinks brought out, and pay for their meals. We even saw our server working other tables. Eventually a manager came and asked had anyone seen us. I assured him we already had our drinks and appetizer order put in, but we were waiting for them. A little while later our server came back, without our drinks still, and let us know our shrimp dip was coming out soon. She also went ahead and took our entree order, that we never got. That was the last time we would see her at our table. More time passed and the hostess came up to our table and asked us had anyone waited on us yet. We jokingly told her yes, someone had taken our orders. A different server finally brought us out our dip after traveling all over the restaurant with it. Still no drinks though. This was the last time anyone came to our table.
The dip was just as bad as the service we had experienced. The dip itself was generic queso with sprinkles of rubbery looking shredded cheese on top. The few pieces of tiny shrimp that were in it sank to the bottom of the dip. I guess they were going for an authentic feel of fishing for your own food. The shrimp themselves were obviously frozen precooked shrimp that were probably brought from the Kroger in the same shopping plaza the restaurant is located in. They were overcooked and had a distinct freezer burnt taste. The chips were warmed up Tostitos Rounds that had been overly salted. Again, Kroger must have had a good 10 for $10 sale. We were very disappointed at the food. The entire time my girlfriend noticed the manager had been eyeing our table, probably noticing our frustration. I was ready to just pay and leave, but no one ever came to check on us anymore. Eventually we left cash on the table to pay for what they called an appetizer. We immediately left around 7:10 hungry and thirsty, much like when we came in.
I will never be going back, and wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. I can't really comment on the food, but based on the dip we had, it's probably seriously lacking. The service has to be some of the worst I've ever experienced. It seems as though the staff doesn't operate very well while it's busy, so they definitely need to improve on that. I now have to question my coworkers tastebuds and sanity as well. I really wanted to be able to enjoy a local business and support it, but I can't remember leaving a restaurant so irritated and angry in my...
Read moreI have been a very faithful customer to Shell's. Rather I was traveling from Americus or to the food truck in Cordele or Vienna or . But it's three strikes you're out with me! So the first time I felt a little let down a unknown YouTube star was suppose to be coming in. The manager walked out from the back, spoke to this white couple but just stared at me. He later came back to greet the YouTuber. The girls became extra fake as well. I wanted to tell my waitress you didn't start coming over here until he came! The time before that, my food just didn't taste as good. Another couple complained and I was like mine is off today too. The cook took my food to the back and put extra of the wrong butter sauce on it. It was disgusting! The waitress was speaking as if she was going to try to get me a discount but nothing was done. She was like you don't want to take your leftovers? I was like no, I don't like that sauce. The last time I went my feet got stuck to the floor upon entry. I was like eww! I asked the girl at the front could I sit in a specific area and she was like no, we have sections. She sat us right behind this table full of people and someone on a date was behind us. If I were a host that's the last table I would have sat someone. In the meantime we went to the restroom. The handicap restroom had a bad leak. My daughter was like it's water on the floor and of course I had to step in it. When we got ready to dry our hands, there were no paper towels. I had to reach under the sink to open a pack. After coming from the restroom I saw a table had cleared out and tried my luck to see if we could sit at that table and she was like no ma'am we have sections. I get restraunts have sections and I saw two women on break as well as three cooks in the back outside but at least try to get to the bottom of why I did not want to sit there. My son is autistic and has a weak immune system. On the way up there he started showing signs of not feeling well so I did not want to sit close to anyone. No matter what side I sat him on he would have been sneezing on people. An in all honesty, I couldn't have sat on the side of the crowded table because I'm plus size. It was barely enough room for them. So I just left. I was already grossed out. I literally only came to Warner Robins to get some crablegs. We ended up eating Wendy's and Zayby's instead. In addition, I told my mom and she was like well the food wasn't that good when we went for your birthday (last April) and I wanted to tell our waitress off becauseshe was rude. (My mom is the last to tell a person off) Yet, I was still promoting this business. The crazy thing is it's a crab truck here and I would still drive all the way there or to meet the truck. Never again! If a cook in the back recognized me because one day he asked me "why do you always come by yourself" then I know y'all recognized my face. Be faithful to those faithful to you! I have never written a review before BUT I had to...
Read moreOk.....let's get this over with! We got seated at 4:15..... got our drinks and ordered an appetizer of the gator bites. 45 minutes later, my friends salad came out. Ten minutes later, you guessed it....the Gator bites. And just to mention, 2 other tables for their food before we did and they were seated well after us! Granted, the restaurant was very busy with a wait time of about 15 minutes for a table. Decor is nothing eye catching. Dark...black ceiling tile and dark floors to hide the messes made. Lighting was..... decent. Tables we clean but the chairs need updating already. Just looked like they were trying to save money. Now for the waiter....lol. Never did get his name until we got the check. First thing out of his mouth was to praise the ring on my friends finger. And to top it all.....he also made sure he noticed her necklace. Very unprofessional when you have that many people in the restaurant. You should be attending your guests and checking on their order, not worrying about ladies jewelry. Finally, after an hour my friends food came out. She ordered the blackened shrimp and scallops. Now ....if that was blackened, I'm the Pope! Scallops were firm but not overcooked.....just barely. Shrimp was cooked right, but like I said.....not blackened. The hush puppies were.... dry....hard.....not seasoned and could have been used for slingshot ammo. My plate came out about 15 minutes after hers. I ordered the fried oysters and grilled Tilapia with corn on the cob and Mac and cheese. I got fried tilapia which was cooked......ok....but not seasoned very well. 2 pieces, but I only ate part of one piece. Just no. No i didn't send it back....it already took an hour to get. No way in hell I was sending it back! Mac and cheese was good. Creamy and had flavor. Corn on the cob was good. A little over cooked but good. My fried oysters were ok. Bland, needed something to bring them up. Not overcooked. It's not a REAL seafood restaurant. Yes they serve seafood, but it's more along the lines of a Cajun restaurant and should probably be called something else. Their specialty is low country boil food which is a Cajun style of cooking. Simply because you serve shrimp and scallops does not make you a seafood restaurant. I noticed everyone was getting the low country boil meals , so that tells me you can cook alot of it and get in a container and serve it quicker. When I say container, I mean the metal mini wash tubs.
All you get is 2 stars. I may come back on a less busier day and try the low country boil meal....then I may adjust my review, but I wouldn't bank on...
