Update: I partnered with the owner over a couple of weeks, and he did make this right for us. We stopped by again to try it out, and everything was much better. I still think that up-charging on brisket and getting very small portions (less than the other meats by far) is kind of ridiculous, but the food was good. Our server this time around was pretty apathetic, but did her job well. We may be back in the future and I encourage you to give it a shot but just keep in mind that an upcharge on meat prices doesn't mean your portion will be the same as the standard meats.
We had a very strange experience tonight. First off, our server, who was nice but clearly had no interest in being there, told us right off the bat that he never eats the food at Sonny's, so we couldn't ask about how anything was prepared/taste, etc. Next, he told us not to order the milk for the kid's meal because he was positive it had passed its expiration date. Third, he warned us against the baked beans as a side because it was just canned baked beans with the leftover meat from the day before chopped up and mixed in. As disgusting as it sounded, I wanted to try it to see if maybe this was something I was missing out on....nope, take a look at the picture below. I found a fingernail-sized chunk of BONE in the beans. About broke a tooth when I chomped down on it. Disgusting. Next, again have a look at the picture below....that is an $8.00 appetizer....15 little cheese curds. Finally, as far as the experience goes, I ordered my brisket chopped, and it came sliced. That's not the issue, though. The issue is it made it all the way to the table, and the server asked me if it was chopped. Clearly sliced. I said no, and he replied with "Oh, I figured, the kitchen never chops it when I ask". He then walked away... We walked out spending over $83 on below-average food (Extremely salty fries, disgusting baked beans, hard (old) pulled pork, and all the sauces were over-sweetened), and a server who wanted nothing to do with his job (Although credit where credit is due, thank God he told us about the expired milk instead of serving it to us).
Good BBQ has been very hard to find here in middle Georgia. This was...
Read moreIT DESERVES ZERO STARS!! We waited 45min before they decided to come out and tell us they were out of sliced pork, pulled pork, baby back ribs, basically everthing pork beside their st. louis cut ribs. The managers of this sonny's are ignorant and rude. They talked down to us when we confronted them about my sons "pulled chicken", my husbands black lettuce he had on his burger and why the salad bar was empty. All they did was put their fingers in my sons chicken and then put bbq sauce on it then proceeded to bring it back to him. I told them this was not their original pulled chicken and my son was not going to eat what other's have touched. The manager said "well we had 14 burnt chickens in the back and I had to pull one apart for this order". I asked why didn't they just tell us that from the begining she said "we don't have to explain it to you". Are you kidding me? We are paying for food we ordered not food you think we should have. When my husband asked about the black lettuce and why the salad bar that we were paying for was pretty much empty she made us out to be liars and then she threatend to call the cops while not giving us an explanation for it. So we got up and left. This sonny's has lost alot of business because of the staff and that they are always out of food. The owner of this sonny's contacted me and said lets be civil after I told him I was going to leave comments on fb and other sites (he did not want me to leave comments). That just showed me what kind of person he is and how he wants to run his business. It's sad this sonnys use to be a great place to go. I am not sure what has happened over the last couple of years but it's going...
Read moreI am 71 years old and this was the WORST food experience we have ever had. My plate, which was missing the coleslaw and beans, came in short order. The pulled pork was cold, baked potato was hard and cold. I couldn't even incorporate butter into it as it was near frigid. I managed about 1/4th of the potato and 2 bites of the pork. I asked for a to-go plate figuring I could microwave it at home. The garlic toast was fresh and salad was fresh but tasteless. Wife's sandwich was cold, bun and meat, and fries were old and cold. Tea was great! We are not complainers and I would have sent it back but another server had already stolen it from our server! The table of twelve behind us had a chaotic experience, too. Most food came out and was consumed while others had nothing. The promise was, 'Your food is nearly ready' it was a sandwich! He canceled his order and just sat there. Come on, Sonny's, y'all have to do better. My dollars at 8:45 are just as important as if I were there at 3pm. In fact, I recently got out of the hospital after a five week stay and just regained use of my legs and this was a celebratory meal for my healing. Out of ALL the restaurants we could have chosen, we picked you. What losers we are. Our server was pleasant and asked if everything was alright. I responded with, 'Not really' then she asked for more info. I told her and she seemed shocked. She apologized and said, 'I am soooo sorry. We will do better next time.' There won't be a next time for us and we will use our experience as a model if folks ask us about your establishment. Our order ID is AAAL8MDGAECQ, Jessica P was our server, most...
