This place is SO AWESOME!! To be perfectly honest I found this place by accident. I had been craving an Italian sub all week and the place I went to was closed so I pulled up google and this was the closest place to where I was. As soon as I got there, it was packed and it was barely 12! There was a bunch of older people there and people were actually waiting to be called up by number so I got excited because I was like they have to have good food here if all these people are waiting. Anywho, I ordered my Italian and curly fries (forgot to order cole slaw but will definitely be getting that next time) and sat down. Btw, the drinks are not behind the counter and there’s a little coffee bar right next to it so you can grab what you want while you’re waiting. I waiting maybe 7mins but during that time I saw the counter lady give absolutely amazing customer service and I believe it was the owner but a man would walk all the orders to their tables when they came out of the kitchen and knew most people by name. My fries were hot (like just off the fryer fresh) and my Italian sub was made perfectly. The environment was very welcoming, food was fresh and I felt like I was eating at my Abuela’s house. Amaral's Fish & Chips is a Family run independent restaurant that has repeatedly received "Best of" awards for seafood. So, what makes it so special? I'll do the best I can to explain. It's definitely not the dining room that keeps people coming back. The dining room is simple, with maybe 6 or 8 small and hard booths. Order first and help your self canned or bottled drinks. Don't get me wrong, this is part of the charm of this place, but it's important to note that most of the guests were getting food to go. Now, on to the service. You're not going to wait long at all for your food. The kitchen team knows their business and they are ready. It must be with their system, because our orders came steaming hot and crispy fresh in what seemed only minutes. On to the main reason why Amaral's has been voted best of Rhode Island for years. Obviously, the best way to know is to go, but, you're here to try to learn why from people like me so, it here it goes. Super fresh fish. Flakey and mild white fish with a house made crispy batter that's not too thick. I like mine with their house made tarter sauce and a drenching of malt vinegar. We visited Amaral's Fish and Chips in Warren on Saturday at noon with our adult daughter and a group of other individuals with special needs- 12 of us in all. It was our first time there, and we were EXTREMELY IMPRESSED! Despite the restaurant being small and the owners not being given advance notice of our arrival, we were easily accommodated and had our piping hot fish and chips meals on the tables in front of us in under 10 minutes! The food was EXCELLENT and very affordable- 3 pieces of flaky fish (cooked to perfection and not greasy) ample fries, and a small side of cole slaw for $11.99! My daughter and I had enough food left over for a second meal at home. Plus each of us were given a free clam cake for being first time customers. I also purchased a large sweetbread for $8 (Vavo's recipe) that was DELICIOUS and reminded me of my aunt's from when I was a kid. WE'LL DEFINITELY BE GOING BACK and encourage others to do the same!
