Overall a fairly disappointing experience. The servers were sweet, though the atmosphere was cold and harsh. The drink(more ice than liquid, about three sips) and portions were far from generous. The menu and presentation- pretentious, considering the pricing and yet stingy servings with lack of love/warmth in the meal... Previous reviews were good so I gave it a shot and was sorely dissatisfied. More beans than meat in my burrito(the meat that was there was shockingly poorly seasoned) with a sprinkle of silly garnish on an already to-large-for-comfort plate. If I thought the owner would care I would have said something while in-house... I felt like they were scraping pennies with shrinking portions and growing prices to overcompensate- if I would have had a fat, lovely burrito to match the delicious chips and salsa, I would be a faithful customer. This experience left much to be desired.

MEXICAN CUISINE DONE RIGHT! Hands down one of the best Mexican food restaurants that I’ve been to in this area in a long long time! Everything that we ordered from the appetizer to our main entree was absolutely delicious! Flavorful, presentation is on point, service was outstanding - the entire experience was wonderful from the beginning to the end. Their menu had just the right amount of dishes to choose from, not an overkill of one too many tacos or burritos that all sound the same. We enjoyed the Empanadas (Amazing!) The Pollo A La Crème ( So good!) Two Tacos (Yummy!) and the Asada de Res (Bomb!) & The Enchiladas (You won’t be disappointed!) My only regret is wishing I had found this spot sooner! Thank you El Cantrin for a wonderful first time experience at your restaurant - my family, friends & I will surely be back!!!! Mexican food done right!!!!

I’m so sad I forgot to take photos of my food. This is not an unusual occurrence when it comes to my dining experiences, especially if I’m really hungry and the food is really good! Which was the case in this instance. I did manage to take a photo of the menu, though. LOL! I’ve frequented El Catrin for the past few years. It’s always been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, and their taco salad is my go to, almost every time! I wish I was more varied in my choosing, but I truly love their taco salad. I love the idea of eating the bowl….reminds me of a Mexican Willie Wonka! I usually get it with chicken but have had it with their asada and loved it just as much. You cannot go wrong in El Catrin. The waiter is nice and friendly, and the food is delicious. The atmosphere is also nice; big, bright and comfortable. Give them a try!

Earlier this week, I took a quick trip to Astoria (from Portland). It was a rough day, a rough week really, and when I saw a sign that said tacos I flipped a U-turn because tacos make all things in life better. Don't let the lack of curb appeal fool you! Once inside, the restaurant was open and airy and modern, but still very cozy. I was greeted immediately by a friendly young lady. I'm guessing that the people running the restaurant were all family, and they were all so gracious and genuinely friendly people.

I basically eat a vegan diet with fish, so I had several questions about the menu and the young lady answered all of them without impatience. I ended up choosing the Mojarra Frita. And the gentleman that brought me my food checked on me several times as well. It was fried fish on a salad with rice, and came with tortillas of your choice. The fish had a super thin batter and was very moist, the salad was mixed greens and tomatoes, avacado and sauteed onions with herbs, and the rice was half spanish rice and green rice. I had 3 salsas from the chips they had brought before hand, and used them all on the fish. Honestly, it was perfect. It was exactly what I needed. All the flavors were so fresh, nothing too salty or greasy. I don't think I left a crumb. And the perfect meal to me, is when you feel full and satisfied, but not heavy afterwards.

I also want to say that I felt very safe in their restaurant, regarding Covid-19. Everything was spaced way out, very clean, everyone in masks, even when answering numerous phone calls.

I can't imagine not coming back here every time I...

Great food, great prices, a must stop while heading north or south to Astoria or from Astoria. Locally owned and operated, serving authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurant and lounge is very popular to the locals in Warrenton, Oregon which is located in the Premarq building on hwy 101 behind Walgreens. Thank you El Catrin for serving excellent food again and again. After locking up your restaurant tonight I decided to take a few pics, your newly waxed floors look absolutely beautiful, the new table tops are very beautiful and the bar still looks as beautiful as the day we installed it, if you two ever need any help in your restaurant, I'd gladly help, because you guys work extremely hard and create an excellent dining experience. I know quite a bit about the restaurant business,(my sister owns Kelley's place in Garibaldi, Oregon, behind the smoke stack.) And some day I want to own my own as well, I am a self taught chef myself, little something not many people know Can't wait for everyone to see the facelift at...

We visited this place when we were at a soccer tournament this weekend and the food was excellent. The service was super slow and I think it’s because they just opened but it was worth the wait. When they brought out the chips and salsa it was very small with small plastic containers that contained the salsa. We all looked at it like what is this. Definitely Wasn’t the traditional stale chips in a basket. The chips were so flavorful and warm. The salsas were AMAZING! We definitely regretted judging the small portion. I ordered the birria and I couldn’t ask for more flavor. It was delicious. My mother in law got the nachos and she couldn’t stop raving about it. My 10year old got the steak and ate it all. The drinks were strong. The overall experience was great. If you decide to try it and they are slow don’t complain right away or You will regret it, we did. Once they figure out the flow this place...
