Update on 12/30/24 We came into the restaurant tonight. Monday 12/30/24 and we were told 20 to 35 minute wait. We Love Not Your Average Joe's so we were okay with this. Although the place looked mostly empty there was four people standing next to us. We assumed they were waiting for tables so that seemed like a reasonable wait. Well they were waiting for takeout they all got their food in the next 10 to 12 minutes and we were the only people there waiting. So now I'm like how is it a 20 to 35 minute wait when we're first in line. Can see in the pictures that this place is 60% open. You don't have someone waiting 30 minutes when you have 60% of your restaurant wide open. This is how you go out of business. Which is what has happened with Not Your Average Joe's. Maybe the owners should know that when the waitresses can't handle it they just make people wait. Instead of trying to earn more money seating another party who is standing there seeing 20 tables wide open and 60% of your building's tables empty. This was ridiculous and after 20 minutes we walked out. That's a first for Not Your Average Joe's and maybe we don't come back and this is how this one goes out of business too. Sad. Owners train appropriately. Before we left my wife asked her and she said we got sat about five tables of 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11. Soooo..it's a restaurant. Get new workers of this is too much. Two other couples walked in and walked out when they were told 40 minutes and the same amount of tables were still empty so you lost out on 400 plus worth of business. Seems absolutely ridiculous. I'm kind of shocked actually. I wish you well NYAJs. But things look off to me. Wake up quick. Warwick actually loves you. **Add on from 3/6/22 The short, dark haired waitress there today was PHENOMENAL. She knows her job inside and out and she is GREAT with people. What an experience to add to the great food. Thanks NYAJs for having great servers too!! Support Not Your Average Joe's. These are the types of places we have to help to make sure they stay open and around. This NYAJ is the only one in Rhode Island and the food is excellent. For a borderline chain this place crafts up masterpiece meals with home cooked taste. And the bread is to die for. CouIed with their olive oil, pepper flakes, fresh garlic and Parmesan cheese is amazing. I love so many of their meals, but their Cobb salad is out of this world. Real bacon, fresh greens, perfectly charred grilled chicken, fresh cut off the Cobb corn (makes the salad), lots of fresh halfed, hard boiled eggs, avocado, and to top it off fresh, amazing, and delightfully tasty real blue cheese. This place is amazing. Try it all. A must go to keep this place alive and well. I wish you well Not Your Average Joe's. Great stuff. See you soon! Look at pics to see multiple tables open. 35 min wait and your first in line waiting for empty. I'm actually...
Read moreHad a $50 gift card from christmas to eat here. Took my girlfriend with me and tried to have a nice time. Let me start off by saying the server was really nice and attentive, the food is what put me off. We asked for a glass of water - the cups were not clean. We started our food order with the bread and "dip" - it was a puddle of melted butter with shaked parmesian cheese & red pepper flakes, it looked like a puddle of grease, couldn't try it. The bread was fantastic though. Off to the appetizer - we had the nachos, I can't remember what it was specifically called, but it was a tornado of nachos with melted cheese on top, and the "salsa" that accompanied the nachos - it was basically a lot of corn and a couple diced tomatoes. It looked the opposite of appatizing. Main dish time! My girlfriend ordered the chicken parm, she ate a little bit of it, but was not satisfied, it came with pasta that was microwaved and tasted short of aldente and was a little cold. I had ordered the jambalaya, I was born in the south so a classic jambalaya is something I love. What I had was a poor dish of overcooked shrimp, soggy sausage, and a couple scoops of weird tasting rice plopped on top in the center of the mess they call a jambalaya. I'm watching Gordan Ramsey at the moment so forgive my critical review, but to me it's important that other people know what they are getting into, and to me that is overpriced, terribly below average food. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, because the place has 4 stars but I find that baffling. All of that came out to be $49.95. If I had went with no gift card I would have been highly disappointed, but being free food, I thought I couldn't complain. Here I am, complaining. I felt like garbage the next day on and off the toilet. The employees are awesome, but I wouldn't feed this to a dog. Again, maybe I ordered the wrong food, but, it is what it is, I won't be returning. I'm not sorry for such a negative review, I'm sorry to myself for spending the gas money to get to and from this place to be so disappointed....
Read moreI read the reviews and had to try it. I too have to add a comment on the bread & garlic oil; addicting! Have one piece if you can then push it away. The bread is very dense as one reviewer wrote, so you will ruin your meal if you eat the entire basket. I had one and a half pieces and asked my excellent bartender Kerry (seriously wonderful - I'm gushing!) to take it away, as I already ordered 2 half price apps, the Salmon Pate' and Ahi Tuna Wontons. The pate' didn't work for me. The texture was that of canned tuna, not a pate' by any means, and the flavor was poor, lacking in everything. This needs to be dropped from the menu. The ahi tuna was a nice surprise. It's served over home made nacho chips, cucumbers, or both. I tried both but now highly recommend the chips. They were flaky, airy and definitely home made. I'll ask for wasabi next time, as the plate was missing it. This is a must get when visiting Average Joe's. I was also told by my hotel staff to try the mustard-crusted chicken. I was so stuffed I couldn't but a guest next to me ordered it, it looked fantastic. I asked and she stated it tasted fantastic and she highly recommended it. As for the restaurant. The design is modern, with a touch of art deco, and a heavy IKEA style of influence (that's a compliment here). They use the less is more package, which I enjoyed. Music was playing but wasn't blasting my ears off, making it enjoyable during my meal. Overall cleanliness, excellent. The place was very clean. Next time... There will be a next time, I'll ask Kerry not to provide bread and go right for the ahi tuna & mustard-crusted chicken. If the weather is warmer, I'll enjoy a beverage after dinner at...
