I've really struggled with what to say about our experience, or whether or not to even write a review. After all, my primary reason for writing reviews is to support local businesses. Geez certainly has a deep loyal customer base and I've truly no interest in hurting their business. But in fairness, our experience was just bad enough that nearly two months later I still feel obligated to share.
I could go in to all of the things that went wrong, which were pretty much everything, but I won't. The reason I felt compelled to finally post a review was the fact that the manager lied to us. We didn't even ask to see her, our server suggested we talk to her so we did, thinking that we might help them avoid similar problems in the future.
Unfortunately, when we told her that we'd waited 45 minutes for a table despite having a reservation and two hours after our reservation time still didn't have food she started making excuses. The most egregious of which was that that they were struggling because they were "new." When I pointed out that they were not new, they'd simply changed locations, she quickly admitted that she'd come back from her retirement (after working for them for 21 years) to help assist in the transition.
So are you new? Or are you a 21+ year restaurant with experienced staff?
Honestly? That's when we were done. It wasn't the fact that our reservation wasn't honored. Or that the drinks weren't right. Or that the food was burned, cold, unseasoned, or that we were expected to pay full price for our meals despite all of our problems.
The reason we won't be back is only because a seasoned manager lied to us because she didn't recognize us as customers who'd followed them from their previous location.
Although we won't be supporting Geez with future business, we wish them well and would be more than happy to have a pleasant conversation with the owner about our experience in an attempt to help them better serve their...
Read moreI don't want to discourage support of local businesses, but i felt compelled to share our experience at Geez. Some coworkers and I were in the area for a conference and stopped by for dinner. The parking lot was full and it was busy in the restaurant, so we were fully expecting some type of wait. We requested and were seated outside pretty quickly, ordered and got our drinks, put in our food orders and didn't see the waitress for the next half hour. After about 20 minutes a different server ( not our waitress), dropped off some applesauce one of us had ordered as a side, with no other food in sight.
Our waitress finally showed back up and asked if we wanted to move inside as it was getting chilly out. We gratefully accepted that offer and moved indoors, where a different waitress took over our orders and still did not bother to ask about our drinks or let us know a status on our food. Finally after an hour of waiting a 4th server brought out our food. The food was good, which it the only reason I gave this restaurant 2 stars, but it absolutely was not worth an hour wait to get it. Neither of our waitresses made any effort to stop and check on us or ask if we needed anything and we had to flag down a different employee just to get our checks after waiting for our 2nd waitress to show back up. They did not seem understaffed as we could see several employees standing around having conversations.
As mentioned we expected to wait a little bit, but a full hour with not a single check in from 2 different waitresses was ridiculous. If we were ever back in the area, unfortunately I would not waste my time trying this...
Read moreGreat…until it wasn’t. Our server was very attentive, very friendly. Our food was very good. We waited about 15 to 20 minutes for our table, which during dinner rush was not bad. I was even planning on suggesting to my husband that we come back together since this visit was me and my sisters. My opinion on our visit drastically changed after our checks were dropped off. One of the other employees, not our server, came and picked up our checks. There were three individual checks - two of us paid in cash one paid by credit card. She came and collected it very quickly. She returned, dropped them back off and quickly walked away. I then noticed that only the credit card slip tray was returned. None of the cash change was returned. We did not say, or were we asked, if we needed any change back. (There was enough change that we should’ve been asked) At that point we had empty drinks and we were still chatting for about 15 to 20 more minutes with no one ever coming by one last time to see if we were still doing OK or if there was anything else that we needed. We did make an attempt to try to find an opportunity to get our server’s attention, but she was busy and the girl who cashed us out wasn’t seen again. I did go up before we left and spoke with a manager, which I believe was Mario. I explained the situation and let him know that we would like to get one Diet Coke to go. He acted very dismissive, never once made any kind of attempted an apology and never acknowledged that not bringing cash change back to a...
