Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Washington Township

It was clean and the employees were genuinely polite. The food wasn't good, especially what I ordered. I got a Baja bowl. I would have appreciated a heads up that it was incredibly spicy, especially since I said that I had no idea what Baja was supposed to be. But that being said, no other part of the meal seemed to have any flavor. I tried it first without the sauce, the rice and black beans tasted like nothing. I like the natural flavors of both so that surprised me to only have a texture. I decided to try a bit of the sauce and it was the only flavor of the entire bowl. I had the beyond chicken strips and somehow those were overcooked to shoe leather texture and still had no flavor. My daughter got a wrap. Her first bite involved spitting out some inedible bits into a napkin. Considering that the meals aren't cheap, we ended up leaving most of our food uneaten, it was that bad. And neither of us had a desire to take the leftovers. We left nearly as hungry as we arrived. I had thought that the place was so devoid of customers because of the odd location of the place, but after the lunch hour rush of just us and one other table, I suspect that the food quality is to blame. We have no desire to go back to that location. And what is even more disappointing is that we had such a great experience at the same company but at the location in Beavercreek, it might be considered Fairborn... it's across the street from Wright...

Tropical Smoothie has ruined me to all other smoothie places. In my opinion only I can make a better smoothie. What I like is that they don't rely on sugar water and artificial stuff to give their smoothies flavor. I can order certain smoothies there with no sugar or sweetner added and they taste fine (albeit, I'm used to not drinking sugar so not everyone might agree). Add protein and it's almost worth the extra carbs!

Anyway, I see a lot of complaints about the service at this establishment. It does take a while to make a smoothie. And even when you are the only person in the restaurant you don't know what phone orders they are working on. But I've been coming here for years and it's worth the wait for me. Yes the really kind gentleman who was always personable and helpful and seemed to run a tight ship hasn't been there for years and they have your usual teenage turnover. But really, I wish people would stop complaining about poor service at minimum wage paying...

I started coming into tropical smoothie about two months ago and I love it with the exception of the prices..Just about every morning I come in to get a smoothie and am greeted by the same smiling face April!She is absolutely awesome !She makes your company more than just a place to get a smoothie.She has always been so helpful to me .I am always greeted within the first few seconds I walk in the door even if she is doing something else .She is fast paced ,friendly,as well as knowledgeable.She also introduced me to one of my favorite smoothies which isnt even listed on the menu...It doesn't just stop there either when other employees have made my smoothies not to my satisfaction she was happy to remake it and with a smile!Great employees are hard to find and I dont do many reviews but when I feel as if someone goes above and beyond I believe it should...
