I just want to go on the record and say that yesterday, was my 3rd time, during quarantine, purchasing food from a restaurant.
I've been, routinely, preparing my meals, during this time, to: avoid potential contamination, save money, and have total assurance of what ingredients are used.
I love pizza and I've been craving good pizza. So, yesterday, my friend Crystal and I trekked to &Pizza. We arrived @ 1:15 p.m., stood there, waiting in their socially distanced line, for a few minutes, and walked up once called. When I was called and approached the front, the workers informed me that they were only accepting online orders. However, there was no signage posted inside (or outside) of the establishment stating this.
Okay, no problem. We each went through the process of online ordering from our mobile devices and placed our orders around 1:27 p.m. I received an estimated pickup time for 1:38 p.m. and Crystal for 1:39 p.m.
There were 4 [visible] employees working. 3 women and 1 man. 2 of the ladies were prepping the pies with their sauces and chatting while prepping the pizzas... However, I didn't notice until one moved to the next station, 1 of the ladies was not wearing her mask, properly. It was around her neck. I asked the man, who seemed to be a lead or supervisor, or sorts, if they are required to wear masks. He said, "Yes, we are and we all have on masks." So, I brought it to his attention, that one of the employees, has her mask around her neck, with her mouth and nose fully exposed, and she's talking while preparing food. Also, I questioned him about the time the pizza would actually be ready, as it was now about 1:55 p.m. and we hadn't received our pizzas.
The man said, "Sorry, We are understaffed and very busy. I'll let her know to put on her mask." The woman adjusted her mask by raising it from her neck to her face, but the tie strings were loosely tied, so the mask kept sliding down. (video below) I discussed it with Crystal and she said, "Hopefully, the heat from the pizza oven will kill the germs."
We didn't receive our pizzas until about 2:07 p.m. At which time, I said to the young man, "If I get sick, it'll probably be &Pizza's fault, because you all aren't enforcing health protocols.
Overall, I have never had a bad experience at &Pizza. Yesterday, was an exception, but it is a VERY big deal, especially, considering this unpredictable pandemic. Moreover, there was a pregnant woman ordering food, which I believe doctors and scientists have said pregnant women are at a greater risk.
This blatant carelessness and defiance should not be occurring in the food and beverage industry and could come a a great cost/disadvantage.
The pizza was delicious, but no pizza is worth anyone's sickness or...
Read moreHORRIBLE LATE NIGHT PIZZA SERVICE! Employee morale is non existent after hours. All these good reviews may be at regular hours when the sober crowd is there and employees have to cater better to people who seem to matter way more. This is due to late night patrons usually blacking out afterwards and not even remembering the entire horrible experience they had, and therefore nothing happens to improve it. When it comes to the late night inebriated weekend crowd then all bets are off. Lots of revenue is generated from the drunken late night crowd so you would think the experience should be valued. Very false. Be prepared to wait in line for over an hour and menu items to be limited to mozzarella and salami due to everything else running out.(You're better off going home and eating cardboard with lunch meat attached.) Along with employees who don't care about anything or anyone around them with the shameless bodily expressions of people who can't stand their job and take it out on patrons, this place is a practical joke. The U street location late night experience is way better due to a highly productive and efficient staff that works very hard at getting people exactly what they need as quickly as possible with enthusiasm. The H street location needs a complete overhaul starting with management. Yet, I can't blame this location as I am the idiot who actually waited over an hour in this atrocious place and spent my money to undergo completely horrible experience. I really need to get my life together. What the hell is wrong with me? I actually want to thank you guys for bringing me to this point of self evaluation, which will result in me making better decisions in the future. As a matter if fact, I'm wasting time typing this. Nobody will read this and nothing will change with that location no matter what I type. They will continue to be successful while I remain angry by venting on Google. The owners of this establishment will laugh at my despair as a human while being elated at the fact that they remain wealthy at my cost.(That's if they actually read this) I really hope this review helps someone if they actually read it and take heed to my insolent mistakes in...
Read morePizza with unlimited topping might be the best and the worst idea ever! I was handed free sample one day on my way to meet up with my husband for lunch. After one bite of their Kiss and Fire, I told myself I had to return to check out this place.
My husband and I stopped in for lunch that weekend. Again, they were handing out free samples - this time - the Jenny (also very delicious) - just as we entered. We were the first customers of the day and were warmly greeted by the entire team. Each friendly staff took his/her time in explaining and walking us through the menu/restaurant. After learning the unlimited topping option, my husband and I knew the Asians in us just couldn't say no. So yes, we went all out!
5 sauces, 4 proteins, and 8 veggies later - I'm pretty sure my pizza must had weighed at least a newborn worth. I thought it would taste weird with so many flavors and textures combined. Surprisingly, they all worked and I couldn't get enough! Spicy tomato + roasted pepper pesto + truffle mushroom + ricotta spread - I love my pizza saucy and this combo was a clear winner. My mountain high fresh veggies aka salad bowl (must get - the eggplant, roasted pepper, caramelized + pickled onion) made this guilty pleasure a little less guilty. t here were so many choices for the proteins (must get - falafel crumbles and meatball). Even with 4 proteins piled onto my pizza, I was only able to sample one third of the options. And who can say no to runny yolk? Top it off with fresh farm eggs = this pizza was pure perfection!
The staffs were beyond patient and down to earth. We were even checked on to see if we made a dent to our pizzas (I'm sure secretly they were laughing at how ridiculous we were). Even though we uncomfortably wobbled our whole way home, my husband and I can't wait to return to make another one of our creative masterpieces aka...
