This place is really cute, they have a lot of authentic Japanese dishes and their appetizer menu has a lot of variety. You can try a lot of Japanese things in one place which is great - they have okonomiyaki, takoyaki, tempura, and karaage which are all worth a try.

The atmosphere is pretty good and the service is decent, we did have to ask them to bring back our water jug once because it seemed like they forgot and one of our orders we had to remind them about but they were polite and friendly enough.

The space isn't too large so I can see it getting pretty busy after it gets a bit more known, they just recently opened and the space can be a bit loud if crowded. There's ample space between the seating so you don't feel crowded in though.

Seaweed Fries - I was expecting battered and fried seaweed but these are potatoes with nori flakes and a mayo wasabi sauce. Still quite good and you can really taste the seaweed flavor but nothing crazy

Akira volcano ramen-spicy - pretty good, the broth was a tonkatsu base and while it wasn't as rich as I like it still had great flavor. The soft boiled egg was great and extra egg only costs a dollar(though it's only half an egg). The chashu was tender and flavorful but the style was that of thinner slices, I generally prefer the big thick slices. The black garlic oil added a good garlic flavor to the broth. Not too spicy but my spice tolerance is pretty high so could potentially be very spicy for others.

Spicy Tsuke Niku - pretty good overall! Chewy noodles and a decently spicy broth to either pour over or dip the noodles in. It comes with a variety of toppings or side dishes (huge fan of the pickled cucumber). The poached egg added a creamy element to the noodles. Honestly the flavor itself is alright but I'm a huge fan of the elaborate experience of almost customizing the way you eat...

Place smells soooooooooo bad! This place boggles my mind. I run food deliveries for many different apps that have brought me into this restaurant as of recent. I am at the point that i may stop taking them because the 30 seconds inside is too much for me to handle. The smell of dead rodents in walls masked with an aggressive chemical agent that is unsuccessful. Ive walked in and seen people sitting and eating there and im just shocked. Maybe the food is really good. I guarantee you i will never know because never in my life would i eat there even if its free. I spared reviewing this place in the hopes that they would do something about the smell. Its been about 2 months since ive been tracking it. Im sure place has probably smelled that way much longer. I do remember there was a time that it did not smell like that. Maybe they changed ownership at some point. Not sure. I can say that i would be embarrassed if my place smelled like that. Im sorry that this is the case. Im sorry for the people that unknowingly order from this place not having ever entered. Even if they had the best food, i dont think i can unsmell the odor of this restaurant. Sadly it isnt the smell of food! I would never eat from a place that smelled like this. I understand that rodents are large in quantity in adams morgan, but when it becomes evident to the customer that you have a problem it must be addressed...

This is my first time posting a review. I had a very unpleasant experience with rude service from the waiter who served me today, on 03/17/2024. I have been to this place many times, both alone and with my friends, but today's experience has made me reconsider. The waiter who served me today was extremely rude and made my experience unpleasant. I don’t use chopsticks due to a hand motor skills disorder, so I always ask for a fork whenever I dine out, and this place has been no exception. When I ordered ramen, as I usually do, I asked for a fork, but I was told they didn’t have one. Instead, they gave me a small spoon, which I had to use for noodles. Imagine trying to enjoy your ramen with heavy, long noodles using a tiny spoon. I could tell he couldn't care less! I know the place, and I have been eating my ramens there with solid forks for years now!

To top it off, when he brought me the tablet to pay, he didn’t show me the screen to tap and choose a tip, he simply handed it to me, asked me to tap and pay, and left. Later, when I checked the total charge, I realized he had already included the tip himself. While I don’t mind tipping generously for hard work, I expect some respect for the customer in return. It’s not too much to ask. I am very...

I don’t write reviews often but this place deserves one! I’ve only ordered though Uber eats from here but both times they’ve packaged everything so well. I’ll order a mix of hot and cold dishes to eat over the course of a few days and they use cardboard to make sure the hot dishes don’t affect the cold ones while en route to me. I also noticed they use recycled cardboard slips to do this which is so so great!!! The food is also great. The cilabrity and yummy rolls were very good (I like raw fish heavy rolls) and their sashimi cuts are one of the freshest/thickest out of the DC places (funny since it’s not even a sushi only specialty restaurant). Ramen broth and noodles are great and their various raw fish appetizers have been very yummy and the sauces done well! Also I’m not sure if it’s due to the volume of my orders but both of my orders included an item on the house :) reminds me of “service” in South Korea!

Akira Ramen in AdMo Review: Comforting Ramen and Sushi (4.6/5) Akira Ramen in Adams Morgan is our favorite spot for comfort ramen and sushi in the city. We frequently order the Akira ramen, accompanied by a couple of sushi rolls. Our top picks are the Volcano roll and the Chicken Tempura roll, the latter offering incredible value at just $8. The karaage and gyoza are also standout dishes that we highly recommend. The service at Akira Ramen is always friendly and fast, enhancing the overall dining experience. The atmosphere is fun and vibrant, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. Plus, a fun fact: we were the first polaroid shot on their photo wall! If you're looking for a cozy spot with delicious food and a lively ambiance, Akira Ramen is a must-visit.
