EDIT 2/3/24: Have gone several times since last review. Excellent sandwiches and finally seeing consistent hours and no "we ran out of bread" issues. Good portion size, good customer service. Pricey for a sandwich but everyone is price gauging these days.
EDIT 7/26/23: Updating to 3 star. I went out of my way to go there early 3 times over the last couple weeks, due to their unstable, random hours and well documented practice of randomly closing, so I’m updating the review. So, the sandwiches are good. I tried 2 different ones and both were good. Overall topping quantity is decent. The bread is quite good. I now do prefer their sandwiches over the Firehouse. 2 of 3 times they were “out of” scooby snacks, and 3 of 3 times they were “out of” the colored gooey ball. 2 of 3 times they were “out of” Diet Coke, so I declined to upgrade to a meal. Staff was always nice. I would probably upgrade to at least 4 stars if and when the business practices here become a little more consistent and professional. Inconsistent business hours, for any business, is completely unacceptable. Their windows still do not even have hours posted (see pic). Also, as many other posters note they routinely run out of things, which should be rare instead of frequent. The shack is small but not so small they can’t adequately stock things. Overall I like the food and theme- lots of potential, just needs some improvement on the business side. Will update in the future.
ORIGINAL: This place is kind of a mythical unicorn. I have lived down the street for almost 2 years and every time I try to go there they’re either randomly closed or “closing early.” On multiple occasions they’ve claimed they ran out of bread. The hours sign on the window doesn’t even pretend to have any form of scheduled business hours (see photo). To me this is not a good business practice. The reviews look great - I hope I get to try this place some day, and will update review...
Read moreUnbelievably slow. I had a text message that my order was ready I've been in line for 20 minutes. I called the store to see if I could pick it up at the back door and they told me no that they were understaffed and they could not hand it out the back door and I would just have to wait in line.
My response to your response:
Hello Sam, this must be a common problem that you're having and you must have me confused with another one of your disappointed customers. I only spoke with an employee at your establishment once. There were no further conversations after my one call but I was told I would have to wait after already waiting for 20 minutes plus . At no point in my review was I ever lying about the service. I'm actually mind boggled by your response and your lack of professionalism. This just shows a possible reason why your business is struggling with staffing issues and why you're not able to keep up with orders. It would have been highly efficient to hand me the order out the back door and get me out of the line since it was already ready.
Iwould recommend before leaving a review in such haste, that you be 100 percent sure you know exactly who you're speaking about and the exact order. The person you spoke of was not me nor did you ever call me or one of your employees.
I hope in this new year you're able to reevaluate your business and the way you conduct it. I'm laughing as I call you out as you were the true liar on the post.
The truth and all of this may be that your understaffed because you don't have enough people; there's a saying that people don't quit a good job, they quit bad bosses. This would be a great time for you to look in the mirror and reflect as your response to me shows exactly why you're struggling and inefficient. Maybe spend more time concentrating on how to run your business then writing a ridiculously absurd review to the wrong person.
Have a blessed day and a...
Read moreThis is a tough review to write because I genuinely love this place and have always had great experiences. However, when I brought my girlfriend for her first visit yesterday, we were unfortunately disappointed.
I ordered the Super Dank with Cool Ranch Doritos, and she ordered the Train Wreck with no cheese—both toasted. We took our sandwiches to eat nearby, but when we opened them, we realized there were some mistakes. Mine had Nacho Cheese Doritos instead of Cool Ranch—not a big deal for me, as I enjoy both. However, my girlfriend’s sandwich had cheese on it, which is a serious issue since she’s very lactose intolerant.
We went back to get the orders corrected and waited in line, as it was understandably busy. A staff member came out to take our order and was very polite. We explained the situation, and she assured us they’d start remaking the sandwiches right away. After waiting a bit more, we pulled up to the window and explained the issue again to another employee. She took back both sandwiches and asked if she could fix them. I emphasized that my girlfriend’s needed to be remade entirely due to her dietary restriction.
A few minutes later, she returned with the same sandwiches—mine had the Doritos swapped out, and for my girlfriend’s, she said she had “peeled the cheese off” and that it had only touched the pepperoni. Unfortunately, this wasn’t an acceptable solution for someone who is lactose intolerant. Her sandwich should have been remade fresh to ensure it was safe to eat. Instead, we ended up with cold, picked-apart sandwiches.
While I understand how busy things can get, food allergies and intolerances need to be taken seriously. I still love this spot and hope this was just an off day, but this experience was disappointing—especially for my girlfriend’s...
