Dolan Coffee — Restaurant in Washington

The Illy coffee for the cappuccino I ordered was smooth and sumptuous. Kudos to the barista!

I ordered a baklava which was delicious—a delicate balance of filo, dates, honey and pistachio. I liked it so much I ordered two more to go, along with their chocolate baklava which I am eager to try at home.

Clean shop, clean restroom. Nothing fancy here, and that's just fine by me. It's an unassuming, welcoming, intimate space with little nooks by the window and several little tables closely spaced. There was only one other person there just before 9 am. The vibe will be different, likely in a good way, at a busier time.

My first visit to Dolan was a welcomed break from the busyness outside. Yearning for a quiet place to sit and enjoy a coffee, I left feeling contented and have since become a regular customer. Bilge's calm, reassuring manner, attentive service, and skill as a barista are a pleasant start to my day whenever I come to Dolan and find her working that morning. Undeniably, her deftly pulled shots of espresso surpass anything else nearby. Definitely, the eclectic selection of music she plays also helps to create an intriguing and inviting ambience. I had a meeting here for a Spanish class. The instructor lived nearby and this is their favorite spot in Cleveland Park.

It may seem slightly confusing where to sit if you just want coffee, but fortunately it was not crowded and we sat anywhere we wanted. The second floor is nice and quiet and offered as plenty of space and privacy to meet.

I ended up trying a salad and a soup. I was very happy with both. I’m excited to try more and get dinner here soon.

The staff, including the owner, were are very friendly and helpful.
