Rooftop 🍣 + 🍹s & A New Wine Bar

Came by here for Saturday brunch with a few friends and had a pretty good time overall. Enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Here are some takeaways: Environment It's a beautiful modern open space with a nice rose garden theme and dining area. We sat out in the rose garden which was nice. The sun was bright and began to seep into the dining area which made it a bit hot. This was somewhat uncomfortable but It has it's appeal on days when the weather and temperature is perfect. Overall it was a very relaxed and beautiful space for dining. Service Our service was good and did a good job making sure we had all we needed. My only gripe is that there wasn't a last call for bottomless mimosas and our server abruptly told us no and gathered our glasses. It would've been nice to have gotten a heads up. Food and Drinks Easy Company offers a bottomless mimosa and a buffet menu along with the choice of a breakfast entree. The buffet has all your basic brunch items like eggs, biscuits, and potatoes. Once you order you have 90 minutes for this deal. The weekend brunch special is at a pretty good price point especially for DC. I ordered the brunch burger, tried the pizza and had a few items off the buffet. All the food was solid and pretty good. I would go back to try other items off of the brunch entree menu. Overall Overall my party and I had a good time and enjoyed the experience. I will go back to try out other things on the menu.

We came here for dinner on a Sunday evening. The view is just lovely, as this restaurant is right in front of the water at The Wharf in DC. The food and drinks are delicious - fresh, quality ingredients, but the portions were just adequate. The wine selection was amazing, but again, each glass was served barely 1 1/2 inches’ worth of wine— slightly more than a tasting sample’s worth. My friends commented that there could have been more, but the water just said nodded and walked away. We ordered salads, which were delicious but came with a small tin of dressing on the side (you know, the ones that are often used to hold ketchup?). One of our friends requested extra dressing. They brought her 2 more of these small tins. Ok, that’s great. But when the bill arrived, she found that she had been charged for each extra tin, plus they added a 5% surcharge to the total bill, which the waiter could not seem to explain. I know there is often a surcharge for large groups, but there were only three of us. We got the sense that this is normally a good restaurant, but that the staff was “filling in” for regular staff and was not particularly knowledgeable about the food or interested on making the experience more worthwhile, and “nickel and diming” the meal was not helpful. Would I go again? Maybe. Every place has slightly off nights. But I’d go into it hoping for a bit more.

I was severely disappointed with my experience at Easy Company. The first 10 seconds of my groups arrival was the best part and that was after we checked in with the host. I explained to her that our party would be 5 people instead of 6 and she was very accommodating when it came to changing the guest number. Three of us arrived on time for our noon reservation and we were told by the host that our 90 minute time limit starts once we sit down. We decided to wait at the bar. When 12:15 rolled around I’m assuming the manager (because he didn’t provide introductions to us) stated that he’d really like for us to get sat because the 15 minute grace period was over. We said we understood and that we just needed to pay our tab at the bar. We began to feel rushed when he suggested that we could transfer our tab over to our table. We expressed that this didn’t work for us because we wanted to tip our bartender personally. Fast forward to us arriving at the table. Our server CAROLYN C. gave us the run down about various menu items and stated that our 90 minute time limit starts once she puts in our food order. Which contradicted what we were told when checking in. The service overall was truly comical due to how poor it was. Carolyn was constantly circling other tables in her section but every time she dropped off drinks or cleaned off a plate, she would leave immediately. It took us so long to order our entrees due to her disappearing and not lingering at our table for more than 5 seconds. We became desperate for help that we went to ask another server to take our order. Our calamari appetizer was severely over cooked to the point that I’m astonished they sold it to a table. We couldn’t find our server to report this so we told the manager and he rectified the situation. Carolyn was not personable, helpful, attentive and barely even present. The entrees were average at best and wasn’t worth over an hour wait for. And to add insult to this catastrophe she added a 20% automatic gratuity when our party was 5 not 6. Despite me telling the host our reservation was for 5 people and there were never more than 5 people sitting at the table. My entire party couldn’t address this with management because he was dealing with another issue at a table for over 30 minutes. For a reservation that required a $250 deposit I’d expect a MUCH better experience. A truly memorable dining experience but not for the...

I visited your restaurant yesterday at 6:30 pm. I walked in to use the restroom and was aggressively approached by a young white male employee. The employee asked me if I was a patron and I responded by saying not yet. He said you must be a patron before using the restroom.

At that point, I asked to speak to a manager. A black male employee approached me and also aggressively asked me if I were a patron. My response was that you and your staff have not even given me an opportunity to be a patron. I then left the restaurant.

Moments later I observed a white male with a yellow shirt walk in the restaurant and headed directly to the restroom without being questioned by your staff.

I then returned inside to have a conversation with the manager about this practice of racism. The black male quickly went into a room marked private and slammed the door. He then called the property security. He told the security officer that I was stumbling and going in and out of the restaurant. I approached the security to defend my position. The security issue was resolved and I left the restaurant.

Your staff was clear by their actions that a white man can casually walk in and use the restroom without being attacked by your staff. However , I black man can not be treated with the same respect. Clear racism....

Follow up on 9.4.25

So I guess I just made the story up. I contacted Matt, the manager and he did not have any follow...
