Place have very nice decorations ( though I still wonder what picture of naked woman doing in the restaurant). Service was good. We were in Peru and we know how authentic Peruvian food tastes. We went in 2 restaurants in DC before this place as well and it was great. This place with food and sneaky ways to take your money - disappointed A LOT. 1)misleading way tip is set up - so PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BILL. In terms of tipping, there's an automatic 20% included in the total called GRATUITY, but at the bottom of the receipt is also a "suggested tip amounts" section ranging from 20-25%, and these numbers are based on the total plus tax and tip 20 percent (called gratuity after tax), and not just on the cost of food and drinks! It's not stated on the menu that tip is already included, and the waiter has never mentioned it either. I never see it in NYC ever if we are talking about USA and never in many other states. Sounds like foul play (and if I would not pay attention then we would end up paying 47 % for a tip in total (27 % just hidden) how else do you call this?!!!) 2)they do not have dessert menu and when you ask they say to you what they have without price tag and at the end you get tasteless small dessert which suppose to be panna cottq for 15 dollars!!!!! It is piedmont dessert (not Peruvian),I lived in Italy and I know how real panna cotta should be, so what they brought to me - it was some yogurt with gelatin I suppose , really I am speechless. 3)if you play cash you can save some dollars. 4)I love sweet plantains and I ordered it. Why they put some cream cheese on top of it and ruined the taste I have no clue. 5)my alcoholic drink was warm instead of being cold and their drinks and food overpriced! Never 👎 again.

I’ve been here twice - once for brunch and once for dinner. My low review is mostly based on two things: the misleading way tip is set up and the brunch food. In terms of tipping, there’s an automatic 20% included in the total, but at the bottom of the receipt is also a “suggested tip amounts” section ranging from 20-25%, and these numbers are based on the total plus tax and tip, and not just on the cost of food and drinks! It’s not stated on the menu that tip is already included, and the waiter has never mentioned it either. When I came for dinner with a group of friends, we actually did end up overpaying by over 30% because we hadn’t realized what was going on. While it doesn’t seem that bad as you can still catch it if you carefully read your receipt, sometimes that can be difficult if you’re in a group and it seems the restaurant may just be banking on folks not catching that little detail. So you better pay attention to your bill at the end of your meal! The food for dinner was pretty decent, while the brunch food was not good. I got the huevos criollos. The eggs were bland and overcooked. The mini arepas were tasty though. Probably better just to order actual Peruvian food so maybe part of that’s on me. The atmosphere is fun - it’s very trendy/Instagrammy if you’re into that sort of thing. For brunch, there was a drag performance which was really great and top-notch.

Went out for a Halloween date night. I was the parking queen this evening and found a street spot almost immediately! Street parking on U street can fill up fast, so I highly recommend taking public transit or arriving early if you can. A stylish spot with great ambiance, perfect for a date night, special occasion, or a lively dinner with friends. They recently changed their menu, so a heads-up if you you are checking Google or Yelp photos for dishes, look at the most recent ones since some older items may no longer be available like gnocchi lomo saltado. :( Service was friendly and attentive, but even though we were the only table dining at the time, the food took quite a while to come out. So make sure to pay for at least two hours of parking! Portions are very generous, and while prices are on the higher side, you do get what you pay for. We started with the Jalea Mixta, an assorted deep-fried seafood platter with pickled red onion salsa and garlic aioli. It reminded me of calamari with extra seafood, tangy and flavorful. For my entree, I ordered he Arroz con Mariscos, a creamy, cheesy seafood risotto like dish served in a sizzling cast-iron skillet that kept the dish hot the entire meal -- amazing! Hubby got the Frijoles con Seco, slow-braised beef in cilantro sauce with Peruvian beans and rice. He enjoyed it, though the beef was a bit dry for my taste.

There’s something magical about a restaurant that manages to blend incredible food, expertly crafted cocktails, and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. This spot is a hidden gem for those who love flavorful Peruvian cuisine paired with a dining experience that feels effortlessly cool. Whether you’re planning a first date, celebrating a special occasion, or just want a laid-back night out, this place sets the perfect tone. The ceviche is undeniably the star of the show. Fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor, it’s a dish that keeps people coming back. One couple even mentioned they couldn’t stop until the entire plate was gone—and that’s exactly the kind of indulgence this restaurant inspires. Pair it with one of their signature craft cocktails, and you’ve got a combination that’s hard to beat. The space itself is designed to impress. The dim lighting creates a cozy, intimate vibe, ideal for date nights or casual evenings with friends. As you step inside, you’re greeted by stylish décor and an ambience that transitions seamlessly from dinner to late-night lounging. A DJ curates the mood, spinning a mix of tunes that range from club vibes to beats that make you want to sway in your seat. For those who like to keep the good vibes going after a night out, consider visiting Pull Up DC, the premier cannabis delivery service in the area. Known for providing high-quality, top-shelf products, it’s the perfect way to extend the relaxed, feel-good atmosphere of the evening. Imagine unwinding after a flavorful dinner with something equally premium, delivered straight to your door. If you’re planning a special celebration, this restaurant has you covered. Guests have raved about how accommodating the staff are for birthdays and events. One group noted that the team went above and beyond to make the night memorable, complete with a surprise birthday drink for the guest of honor. It’s these thoughtful touches that elevate the experience from a simple dinner to a moment worth cherishing. While some have experienced slower service during peak times, the bar staff consistently earns high praise for their quick and friendly service. Sitting at the bar can often feel like an exclusive experience, where the bartenders craft drinks with care and precision. The menu extends beyond the ceviche, offering standout dishes like lomo saltado, gambas, burrata, and indulgent rice dishes. The flavors are bold and satisfying, with each bite reflecting the heart of Peruvian cuisine. And don’t skip dessert—it’s the perfect way to end the meal on a sweet note. What’s truly remarkable about this place is its versatility. During the day, it transforms into a casual café, serving lunch and coffee options that make it a great spot to unwind. By night, it evolves into a sultry dining destination with an energy that’s equal parts chill and chic. If you’re searching for a place that delivers unforgettable flavors, a warm yet sophisticated vibe, and a touch of nightlife energy, this restaurant checks all the boxes. And if you’re looking to complement the evening with a premium, relaxing finish, Pull Up DC has you covered with its outstanding cannabis delivery service. Come hungry, bring good company, and prepare to be swept away by the magic of Peruvian cuisine and a perfectly curated...

Been here couple of times throughout the years. Here are my observations:

Food. Each time I come- portions get smaller and smaller and quality of food gets worse. The ribeye is now chewy like rubber and the fish in ceviche, which they call “Peruvian Corbina” is nothing more than a “Taiwanese frozen Tilapia”. If you know your fish- you know the difference. Everything else on the food side was great! Kudos to Chef. Best dishes- Gambas Al Ajillo as an appetizer, Pescado A Lo Macho for main.

Bar. The cocktails are taking a hot minute with the bartender doing his cool tricks. We get it dude! I got my cocktail after finishing my appetizers (the restaurants wasn’t busy by the way). The taste- not worth the hype. Average but advertised well gotta give them that. They’re trying just gotta stop fooling around! Best cocktail- Atardecer

Dessert. Tried a few. Most of them are great BUT flan tastes like… nothing!!!! Tastes like someone found a way to take air, put it in a jar and condense it into a desert. Flan tasted like people that wear socks with sandals. Flan- First Name “Taste” Last Name “Less”. TASTELESS! Had four people try it and we all agreed on that. Sorry, flan just really left an impressions I had to speak out. Best dessert- anything but flan.

Service. Not going to lie, the server saved the night. Very attentive, cracked up a joke or two and you could see that person works for the money. We decided to restrain ourselves from complaining about anything. No complaints on server side. A tall smiley guy who greeted, however, who at first I thought was the host took us to the server so they could sit us down and went back to sitting at the bar. This was just a number of weird moves. I then realized he is the manager/owner. Sadly, he didn’t seem engaged with his restaurant at all! (coming from a person who owned a restaurant or two). And you can tell by the way the place is falling apart!

Decor. Decor is great and gives amazing vibes of Amazon (not the company, the river!) nice and fresh with dim lights and well-matching plates. Random paintings of naked women next to old women portraits are strange but whatever. Overall vibe and music made this place more appealing.

3/5 is a well-deserved rating here. P.S. Get rid of the...
