Read moreBeen here couple of times throughout the years. Here are my observations:
Food. Each time I come- portions get smaller and smaller and quality of food gets worse. The ribeye is now chewy like rubber and the fish in ceviche, which they call “Peruvian Corbina” is nothing more than a “Taiwanese frozen Tilapia”. If you know your fish- you know the difference. Everything else on the food side was great! Kudos to Chef. Best dishes- Gambas Al Ajillo as an appetizer, Pescado A Lo Macho for main.
Bar. The cocktails are taking a hot minute with the bartender doing his cool tricks. We get it dude! I got my cocktail after finishing my appetizers (the restaurants wasn’t busy by the way). The taste- not worth the hype. Average but advertised well gotta give them that. They’re trying just gotta stop fooling around! Best cocktail- Atardecer
Dessert. Tried a few. Most of them are great BUT flan tastes like… nothing!!!! Tastes like someone found a way to take air, put it in a jar and condense it into a desert. Flan tasted like people that wear socks with sandals. Flan- First Name “Taste” Last Name “Less”. TASTELESS! Had four people try it and we all agreed on that. Sorry, flan just really left an impressions I had to speak out. Best dessert- anything but flan.
Service. Not going to lie, the server saved the night. Very attentive, cracked up a joke or two and you could see that person works for the money. We decided to restrain ourselves from complaining about anything. No complaints on server side. A tall smiley guy who greeted, however, who at first I thought was the host took us to the server so they could sit us down and went back to sitting at the bar. This was just a number of weird moves. I then realized he is the manager/owner. Sadly, he didn’t seem engaged with his restaurant at all! (coming from a person who owned a restaurant or two). And you can tell by the way the place is falling apart!
Decor. Decor is great and gives amazing vibes of Amazon (not the company, the river!) nice and fresh with dim lights and well-matching plates. Random paintings of naked women next to old women portraits are strange but whatever. Overall vibe and music made this place more appealing.
3/5 is a well-deserved rating here. P.S. Get rid of the...
Read morePlace have very nice decorations ( though I still wonder what picture of naked woman doing in the restaurant). Service was good. We were in Peru and we know how authentic Peruvian food tastes. We went in 2 restaurants in DC before this place as well and it was great. This place with food and sneaky ways to take your money - disappointed A LOT. 1)misleading way tip is set up - so PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BILL. In terms of tipping, there's an automatic 20% included in the total called GRATUITY, but at the bottom of the receipt is also a "suggested tip amounts" section ranging from 20-25%, and these numbers are based on the total plus tax and tip 20 percent (called gratuity after tax), and not just on the cost of food and drinks! It's not stated on the menu that tip is already included, and the waiter has never mentioned it either. I never see it in NYC ever if we are talking about USA and never in many other states. Sounds like foul play (and if I would not pay attention then we would end up paying 47 % for a tip in total (27 % just hidden) how else do you call this?!!!) 2)they do not have dessert menu and when you ask they say to you what they have without price tag and at the end you get tasteless small dessert which suppose to be panna cottq for 15 dollars!!!!! It is piedmont dessert (not Peruvian),I lived in Italy and I know how real panna cotta should be, so what they brought to me - it was some yogurt with gelatin I suppose , really I am speechless. 3)if you play cash you can save some dollars. 4)I love sweet plantains and I ordered it. Why they put some cream cheese on top of it and ruined the taste I have no clue. 5)my alcoholic drink was warm instead of being cold and their drinks and food...
