EDIT: New review at the very bottom as of 10/20/24.
Let me be clear before I start this review, I absolutely adore the staff, everyone is so nice, service is great and the place itself is nice and convenient. I have been a long time customer (7 years) and I had probably ordered from them at least once every week, that's how good they were. They used to be my favorite teriyaki place, hands down. But after new management and the very kind man who used to take care of the front desk disappeared, the quality of the food has drastically changed, and after seeing a few recent reviews that have said the same, I also have to say something about it. First, with the beef teriyaki; it used to be my favorite thing on the menu. It was never chewy, always drenched in teriyaki sauce, and the cut of meat was always great. Used to taste like heaven. However, now, the meat tastes cheap, chewy, and rubbery (sometimes I can't even swallow it), under/over cooked, and just wasn't prepared with the same amount of love. Then the chicken teriyaki. The quality of this hasn't changed as much, but it's important to me to note that now the "normal" teriyaki is spicy. As someone who can't handle spice very well, it upsets me that they don't just serve normal teriyaki anymore; it's got some kick to it that I just don't like, and the chicken is cut thinner and somehow tastes less rich than it used to be.
Overall, I don't like the changes new management has made. I understand it's what must be done and some things just can't stay the same, but there have been multiple reviews complaining about the meat quality in the meat dishes, and it's too many complaints not to fix. Again, prefacing that this isn't an attack on the people/restaurant! Just constructive criticism. I'd love to one day be able to call this place my favorite teriyaki restaurant again, but for now, I can't not be honest.
EDIT: I've recently returned because my boyfriend suggested I try, and the chicken teriyaki has gotten much better!! Drenched in sauce, not stringy, not chewy and overcooked. I have yet to try the beef, but I'm upping the food star. I hope it keeps going...
Read moreThe new owners do not know how to cook teriyaki and should not be serving food. That was the worst teriyaki I’ve ever had. The yakisoba noodles were foul everything tasted like fish we ordered chicken and beef dishes, they expanded the menu to include obscure items. I am horrified! this place was our go to, we have been going to for years will never go back. I wish I didn’t pay cash would’ve stopped payment with a credit card, The portions were considerably smaller than normal, And now every dish comes with a free drink, does not make up for quality of food, and don’t get me started about the vegetables like eating mush, I know there is a lot of people that have been going there for years. They need to realize that it’s not the same place avoid if it all possible hopefully new management sees this and realizes what they’re doing wrong and getting back to the quality we...
Read moreI ordered the shrimp fried rice and oh my God do I wish I ordered something else.. We don't have a lot of money and eating out tonight was a very special treat, my husband got Taco Bell, I wanted something better. Well ding ding, is it too late to ring the dinner bell for Tacos? This meal is terrible. The fancy frozen veggies is nice, and the shrimp taste good but the rice is soooo gross. It's as if the cook couldn't decide if they wanted to saturate the rice in soy sauce or teriyaki. So they went with both. When I say saturated, I mean dripping to the point there iis nothing fried about it. The rice is soggy, like baby food and super salty and super sweet, barely edible other than the fact I spent 20 bucks on food, chopsticks and tip. So what, give me a bib and a safety spoon, this baby is stuck eating food she...
