Jimmy's Diner — Restaurant in Washington

I went in on a Wednesday morning there was no one waiting to be served, they had just turned over a few tables and my father and I were instructed to take a seat where we were then forgotten about for 10 minutes, before anyone came over and offered us water or even a menu. During that 10 minutes we watched two other tables get seated given water and menus to and have their orders taken all before we had even been given even just a menu. We finally got our menus and our orders taken and 25 minutes later our server came up to us and told us that our order was behind because they hadn't turned on their deep fryer to the temperature needed to be turned to. I have worked as a breakfast server and I understand that sometimes these things happen but I also understand that when serving breakfast food it is not acceptable that 4 hours into your business day your deep fryer has not been turned up to the proper temperature to be cooking food and it's not acceptable to wait half an hour to inform your table of this,when all the rest of the tables in the restaurant have been given food and you're sitting there waiting. Another 20 minutes passed and she told us that they should be up any minute and by this point we already had been there nearly an hour and we were needing to leave so we asked her to make them to go for us. I have been here quite a few times before and never had as many issues as I had today, but when we took our food to go and I cut into my steak the steak had been sitting on the grill the entire time my dad's chicken fried steak had been cooking and I had I ordered my steak medium rare by the time I got it it was nearly well done. The eggs were cooked over hard when I requested them over easy and the toast was soggy and the hash browns had no flavor at all. The icing on top of the cake was that my dad went to pay and they don't accept debit/credit cards which to their credit they do post on signs. However when I asked why they don't take cards of any kind the server told me that it's because the owner doesn't want to pay the fees and I understand that it is an owner's choice on whether or not they want to accept cards however my father didn't see any of the signs nor did I until afterwards so we were very lucky that I happened to have a checkbook on hand and it really is upsetting that any owner would be so cheap as to avoid paying credit card fees which are not that high and I would know since I am a small business owner and I pay the fees myself so it was really disheartening to see that nothing was comped on our ticket nothing was discounted and the service was shoddy at best and I I'm sad to say I will probably not be going back and the service and experience was bad enough that I didn't even leave a tip which is the opposite of everything I believe in doing when...

Had breakfast there about 5 days ago. Biscuits and gravy and sausage links. First off, my order was wrong, but I didn't want to be rude because they were busy, and they only partially messed it up. I ordered biscuits and gravy (supposed to have hash browns too, but that was what they missed) Biscuits and gravy were not good. The gravy was so bland. It did have sausage in it but basically tasteless... I love biscuits and gravy, so I always try them at the various places I try for breakfast. Won't be ordering that again from there unless to try to see if they made it taste better. The four sausage links I had were tasteless. I'm not sure if they were even pork. They had no "pork sausage link" taste. I wonder if they were like fake meat like the "impossible burger". About 2 hours later I ended up on the toilet with serious stomach upset. Hadn't eaten anything before or after that breakfast, so you tell me what may have caused it. I love Diner's like this and will try there other food as well over time. Maybe it was just an off day... I won't give up on them just yet...

EDITED Aug. 21st: I’m adding this… The staff were great and did check on me to see if I needed anything. (Just glad I wasn’t asked how I liked it… Sometimes I say what’s on my mind…)

Love this diner, great home cooked style food great cooks an waitress staff also I love the random ducks everywhere. My only complaint is the elderly lady that served me an my best friend breakfast she was rude to us it was extremely off putting. She yelled from across the room several times for us to sit down of course we didn't know she worked their an she was at the other end of the room so I didn't hear her because I'm hard of hearing it was embarrassing as the whole diner stared at us. An on top of that she wanted to remark on my order over an over again on how it wasn't the same order as my friends, an then laugh an make a rude remark at my friend for asking politely for water because she didn't see it in the ladies hand. We didn't find it comical for her to treat us as if we were idiots I'm partially def an we were very polite to her. it was rude an for me to say that is a lot because I love this place. She still was tipped but if we seen her their we would walk right back out the door and or ask for...
