We will never eat here again. Here's why:
-We ignored most of the reviews that mention poor service/long waits (and there are quite a few of those!). I wish we hadn't ignored them. We ordered to-go and were told it would be 15-20 minutes before our food would be ready. My husband waited for 45 minutes. More than double what we were told with little more than a half-hearted "sorry about that."
-There are huge discrepancies between their online menu and their real menu. The prices are nearly DOUBLE what they say they are online. For example, online, it says the pork chow mein is 4.75. When we went to pay, we learned it is 8.50! Our total was about double what we expected. The first two things we tried to order (crab rangoons and the empress chicken) weren't even on the real menu. When we questioned this, we got a dismissive "Yeah, we hear that the menu is wrong a lot." There is no excuse. Get on a computer, claim your Yelp/Zomato/etc listing, and update.
-The food was bland and could have been made better at home. Maybe this was a one time thing (we assume they forgot to cook our food and rushed to get it done when my husband walked in), but it was flavorless.
Okay, so these things were bad, but we probably would have given this place another shot if it weren't for the following:
-When my husband got home nearly an hour later than he should have had to, we tried the food. As I said, it was bland and, frankly, not worth the 40 dollars and one hour we'd wasted on this place. So I called the restaurant. It seems like almost everyone working there is a teenager. I asked to speak to a manager and explained our dissatisfaction. She was clearly pretty young and said she needed to talk to her boss. This boss I spoke to was, by far, the rudest and least professional employee I've spoken to in this Valley. She got on the phone dismissive and angry. The first thing she asked me was if I was a new customer and I said yes. She told me I obviously wasn't the right kind of customer for her restaurant and that I didn't know what good Chinese was. She wouldn't let me say a word and kept ranting and talking more and more loudly over me. I finally asked her to stop talking and please let me speak. She still wouldn't let me and just said, "I don't care. Tell me what you want." I told her I wanted to pack up this food and bring it to them to get my money back. She said fine and hung up.
When I got to the restaurant, she wouldn't come out to see me. She sent an employee to grab the food from me (without asking) and take it into the kitchen where she presumably was. I was strung around for awhile before another employee finally came out and refunded me.
I can excuse food that isn't great and even a long wait. But I refuse to spend money at a restaurant that cares so little for its customers and owning up to mistakes. I won't eat at a restaurant that tells me I'm not good enough for it and won't give my money to a restaurant owner who treats...
Read moreI havent been to Peking in a few years and wanted to have my fiance try it since he's never been, I will say the actual server was great and she did the best she could I think, with that being said I think there was some mis communication when we asked to sub a few items she stated there would be an up charge for the difference, not a problem... we ordered the Peking dinner thinking it's for 2 people since it states on the menu ( serving size 2 people) she explained we had to order 1 per person, so that was an auto $50 to start instead of $26.95,... she came back and confirmed the $5 up charge for 1 dish was 100% fine with... we get our food, which seemed to be way more them what we ordered... when she said I'll be back with more.... 😳 ummm ma'am what?! Fiance said it was ok. At least he gets to try 1 of almost everything... so the bill comes, and I'm looking at $124.... the cheapest thing on there was the 2 beers we ordered... this is rediclous and the menu needs to be updated and explained if you sub any items your gonna be charged for the whole dinner price not just a up charge for the difference also the wontons are not filled ones and are more like a fried chip...good food almond chicken was super bland..I also had 2 separate charges on my card this morning from them... so I will be reaching out about that... overall, I think the menu needs to be better worded so it's easily understandable on what you're ordering. I would have loved to be told that it would be the dinner charg and not just and up charg... the place inside hasn't changed in years, and the window blindes were covered in...
Read moreNOT KID FRIENDLY! I know kids are messy and loud and sometimes chaotic. My kids were definitely not as quiet or clean as we would have hoped, but they are 2 and 3. We were apologetic about their mess and cleaned up after them as best as we could the whole time and tipped the waitress very generously knowing she would have to clean our table when we left. She was excellent! She was very understanding, attentive and kind. Very personable. Of course my 2 year old was just not having it at the end of dinner and was throwing his fries, napkins and anything he could get his hands on, on the floor. As I leaned to him to pick him up and remove him from the table, he quickly grabbed a plate and chucked it on the floor and it broke. My husband promptly started picking up the pieces and as the waitress came over to clean it up, we apologized profusely and she was very understanding that accidents happen and cleaned it up. She came back after a few minutes and said "the kitchen is telling me that we have to charge you $10 for the plate." I could tell she was uncomfortable and didn't want to tell us. We reluctantly, but kindly agreed to pay it to spare her from any repercussions or additional stress. We overheard the manager or someone "in charge" being very loud to the waitress in regards to the situation.
I have never seen any restaurant charge a customer for an accidental dish breaking. Things get broken from time to time but I have never heard of...
