We had an 8 o'clock reservation. No one greeted us until about 8:15. We waited until 8:30 for our first round of drinks (beer and wine, not cocktails). We didn't get our entrees until after 9.
We were seated upstairs, where we had never sat before, despite several tables being available in the downstairs dining room. Initially, we were seated in a booth right under a speaker playing music so loud that we couldn't even have a conversation. We asked to move to another booth and we were seated in a windowless part of the room. The room was painted black, so we felt like we were in a hole. Additionally, there was only one server working the upstairs dining room who was also bussing tables. She bussed several tables where the patrons had gotten up and left before coming to greet us, which was frustrating. The dining room was not very busy while we were there.
I went to use the restroom toward the end of the meal. They are single use, gender neutral restrooms. One of the restrooms was locked, so I knocked and pushed open the (ajar) door next to it, where a man was urinating. He had not shut the door all the way, let alone did he bother locking it. He laughed -- I was disgusted.
Since the service was so slow upstairs, we finished our last round of drinks at the bar downstairs, where the creep I was exposed to was sitting at a table that had been available when we arrived at the restaurant at 8. He kept turning around and looking at me, which was incredibly disturbing and uncomfortable. I suppose the silver lining here is that he was a patron and not an employee of the restaurant.
On top of everything, there was a 20 percent service fee. I generally don't have a problem with this, but including an automatic tip for a terrible experience is unfair and we felt taken advantage of. While we love the food at Mariscos, we won't...

As the waitstaff whispered and customers stared, I snored softly, unaware and unprepared. My face rested peacefully in a bed of lime, A drunk seafood nap, oh, what a time!

So here's to that night, in Marisco's delight, When I fell asleep drunk, amidst seafood's sight. In the annals of funny stories, it will forever dwell, A reminder to savor moments, even if they're a bit shellfishly swell.
Ceviche Vuelve a la Vida is the first item on the menu and it is to die for! Finally, solid seafood restaurant with Latin flair close to my home. Read moreMy family made reservations for Saturday brunch to celebrate my dad's birthday. We came all the way from VA, we arrived and were seated promptly. We all participated in bottomless brunch. Victor or Vicente (im sorry im bad with names!) took care of us and he did so with a smile on his face and truly the best hospitality. Some highlights were the Aguachiles, Lechon Flautas, and the calamari was probably the best i've had in a while. All the seafood tasted so fresh and seasoned to perfection. They did the classics right, enough said! My sister and I added the bottomless drinks for an additional $23. Definitely worth the $$ as the hibiscus margarita packed such a punch, some brunch spots slack with the strengths of their cocktails but wow zero complaints on that end. I had 4 of them if that says anything. I saw other reviews complaining about slow service but i'm so glad we didn't let that stop us. They were pumping out those plates out of a tiny kitchen with a small staff. I think some graciousness goes a long way and we did not mind being patient for our food. I will gladly wait as long as it takes for food of this quality!!! Plus it gives us more time to digest in between plates ;) They made sure to sing HBD to my dad, sombrero and all. My parents genuinely enjoyed their experience and the hospitality brought by the waitstaff, from the food runners to everyone in between. We will definitely be...
