Read moreAmbience and location is great if you're walking around Adams Morgan and want to hop in for a meal. The service leaves alot to be desired. The staff seems uninterested in talking to you or answering questions about the food. They seem to know even less about the actual food. The food itself is mediocre and in some instances not even what its supposed to taste like. The biryani tastes more like a chicken curry and rice steamed together rather than using the authentic recipe for biryani with its specific spices. Chicken 65- is not. Chicken 65 is a south indian dish cooked with curry leaves, and a few spices- what these guys sell tastes like something made of ketchup and a bunch of unrelated spices with not a single curry leaf in sight. The naan is soggy and dense. The vegetarian dishes were bland and yet all tasted identical in a weird way. Non-indians seem to enjoy the food, Indians most...
Read moreWe were looking for a spot after walking around the zoo and came across Naanwise! Food is delicious, service is great and good portions. We ordered mango lassi, lamb biryani, lamb curry, chicken chettinad and garlic naan.
The mango lassi was delicious and refreshing. We ordered all our food "medium spicy" which is a level 4 out of 6. Lamb biryani and lamb curry had soft and tender lamb pieces and both were great, the chicken chettinad was delicious and definitely spicy. One garlic naan gave 2 of us 2 pieces each. Overall all our food was great and we had enough for leftovers.
It is pricier than we expected. We usually do order extra food at Indian restaurants to bring home leftovers, but typically it's not as much this.
One recommendation: plastic bags or plastic containers would be better to carry leftovers. Ours started leaking and broke our paper bag...
