Olivia Macaron — Restaurant in Washington

I recently had a very disturbing experience here. The macarons were sub par you taste more almonds than anything else as far as flavor goes although the customer service was great. I went by after work this passed Thursday and ordered 2 macarons. While I was eating them a casually dressed female walked in with a child and frantically began meddling with things. A few moments later I heard her scolding the two young ladies who were working. Which made me assume she was a manager. I couldn't quite hear everything but what I did hear was very unkind. I heard her telling her employees they were replaceable and not paying attention with a rude undertone, but what I heard very clearly is he bark the words "you had better stop smirking at me" as if she were talking to a dog and storm out. the level of respect she had for those employees or people I should say was very minimal. I'm a skeptic when it comes to macarons in DC. Having had macarons from Paris and macarons from Laduree and Bosie Tea Parlor in NYC, I've had my share of good macarons. Try as I may to find a similar macaron in DC, I have not been successful yet. Olivia Macaron, while decent enough, still doesn't fill in that macaron quota.

Flavors change daily, although there are the traditional chocolate, coffee, pistachio, raspberry, rose, and salted caramel that seem to come about every day. However, you can find other seasonal flavors too. I thought the pistachio macaron was good, taste and texture-wise.

I think as far as DC goes, Olivia is probably going to be one of the better macaron shops you'll get. Unfortunate, but c'est la vie. Also due to its location, it'll have good business especially from those from who want something different from the usual three cupcake bakeries nearby. I Visited Georgetown's Olivia Macaroon with my boyfriend for the first time this past Saturday afternoon April 8, 2017 and we had a most wonderful experience!! Staff was friendly and helpful and the macaroons were very fresh and delicious! I got a variety of macaroons! 14 in a box plus they even gift wrapped it with a red bow for a dollar more! Wasn't sure which ones to get as they all looked so delicious! The staff was great at guiding me to the most popular choices and I was very pleasantly impressed with all the flavors!! My stand out favorites were the salted caramel, red velvet and the chocolate!! If you go, be sure to try those flavors as they are scrumptious!!!
