I have nothing bad to say about the food itself. Ownership and staff are usually very polite. Tonight? Holy smokes. I ordered a bunch of food to go. Picked it up, got it home, and some stuff was wrong. It's food service, there's a pandemic, stuff happens. No big deal, right?
I expected a quick sorting out of what was missing and to run back across town to pick said items up or pay for something I may not have been charged for, whatever. Instead, when I called it was immediate nasty attitude. Way too much back and forth, somehow blaming and correcting me (?) while I'm just standing in my kitchen like... 😳
She puts the owner on the phone, who is coincidentally her dad. He flat out verbatim said I was calling his daughter a liar. I ordered a thing and the thing wasn't in my order. Your fault. I ordered something incorrectly because I used the wrong word. My fault. That's all I was trying to convey. I literally wanted sides for the thing I ordered wrong and the thing I did order that wasn't included. That's how simple this could have been.
In the end, after 30 minutes of being talked over and corrected and accused and generally berated, he did issue a refund. His food sits in my trash based on principle, and Ernesto's got the business he could have had with even the slightest modicum of tact. I hate every bit of this. I hate complaining, I hate confrontation, I hate leaving bad reviews; ESPECIALLY when it's a small business, but this was completely unacceptable. Understand not only that it costs money to make and serve food, but also that your customers place value on their...
Read moreYesterday (Sunday 04 DEC 2022), I went to Pulque for the first time and I had the "Acapulco". I believe this was the best Mexican food that I have ever had in my life.
Considering that I turn 60 next month (JAN 2023) and have had lots of Mexican food especially considering the time I lived in Southern California and have actually been to Acapulco, Mexico, that says something.
The menu is so varied and different compared to other Mexican restaurants. Furthermore, they have subtle touches that make it special. For instance, often a Mexican restaurant will provide a bowl of tortilla chips and a communal bowl for salsa. However, at Pulque, they give each patron their own bowl and, furthermore, the salsa comes in a flask so each person can pour out the amount of salsa that they wish. This may not seem like a big deal, but, in the age of COVID-19, subtle things like this are important to the health-conscious.
Overall, this was an excellent restaurant and I am blown away by all the distinctive choices on the menu. My wife was as well; she had the "Alambres Michoacan".
Below are the descriptions of the two meals we had.
Total bill was very good as well!
Alambres Michoacan Chicken, steak, pastor, cooked with onions, and poblano peppers then topped with melted chihuahua cheese. Served in a hot skillet with rice, beans, Mexican salad, and tortillas.
Acapulco Steak, chicken, and shrimp cooked with tomatoes, onions, and jalapenos, then topped with melted Jack cheese and served with rice, beans, Mexican salad,...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for the 2nd time today. The first visit we walked in and there was one couple ahead of us to be seated. They were seated, you would think that we would be next but instead they skipped us and seated the people behind us when their party wasn't even all there. They continued to walk past us and not acknowledge us. We waited for almost 20 mins and we were standing right at the door, couldn't be missed? We left but decided since it just opened and it was extremely busy we would give them another shot. We visited again today for lunch. Got there around 11:40, plenty of open tables. We are seated right away. We thought this was going to be a much better experience. Our server took our drink orders then brought us our drinks. So far so good. Then he went to go deliver food to another table and never came back. There were 4 of us, we finished all of our drinks, all of our chips, had our glasses and menus sitting at the edge of the table and yet no one came over for about 20 mins. We watched 4 tables come in after us get drinks and put in orders. Finally another waitress comes over and asked if we were done. We told her we hadn't ordered and that we just wanted to pay for our drinks and go. She did say sorry and told us we could go without paying for our drinks. That was the best thing that happened out of the whole experience. I waited tables for a long time and hate to give bad reviews, everyone has a bad day... but we will not be giving them another chance. We...
