Read moreAte at Shake Shack while waiting for my train. It's convenient to have it inside Union Station (just to the left of the main entrance as you walk in). They also have seating on the second floor, so it's not quite as small as it appears from the outside. At lunch time, this place was insane. The line moved quickly, but getting the food too a bit longer. And that's the bottle neck, waiting for food. There simply isn't enough space. Everyone is standing around waiting, while trying to fill up water cups, get utensils and condiments all in a small area. The tables are also smashed together, so there will be no private conversations. Because if how closer your are to neighbors, expect to be bumped as they get in and out and vice versa. The food is expensive, as is usual for Shake Shack. And it's also quite tasty, as is usual for Shake Shack. The burger was excellent, nice and juicy, perfectly cooled and seasoned. The bun was great, holding it all together, not too big and nice and soft. Lettuce and tomato were fresh. They went a little heavy on the sauce, which too away from the burger's taste. But I can't complain too much. The crinkle cut fries were extremely crispy, not over done, just very crispy. Has I got cheese on it, I probably would have liked them better. Otherwise, I'll skip the fries next time. The kids like their hot dogs, they got them plain, because that's what they do. I took a bite to try it, seemed too dry. I'd much rather get a hot dog at Costco and save $2. The drinks are overpriced at almost $3 for a large that doesn't include refills and isn't completely full, while having a crazy amount of ice. Overall, the burger is the star here. If you want a great burger, this is hard to beat (although I like Bolt Burger better). The fries, the hot dog and the drinks, I can do much better at a lot of other places. But hey I knew it was over priced and the burger was the...
Read moreI waited in line for about five minutes. Meanwhile there were five employees at the register having a conversation. One in a floral shirt was going off about something. One she left another was picking something from underneath her nails. I'm staring at them and they are ignoring me. One girl looked up said it would be one minute. I had plenty of time to take pictures in disbelief all while forgetting what I wanted to order lol.
The cashier got annoyed that I forgot my order as there was now a line of about 10 people. However, I quickly stepped away to double check the menu that is a few feet away and awkwardly placed on a wall. So I finally placed my order. I ordered a smoke shake burger (6.99) a small fry (2.99) and a raspberry cheesecake shake (5.79). When she said $17.35 I choked and began to laugh. I said "seriously".....she said yes. I paid for my order and waited by the counter now watching the drama like it was a sitcom. There were employees gathered to the left of the food area (perhaps a dinning area for employees). They were talking about an incident that happened. Meanwhile, I was trying to figure out who was the manager as I wanted to address my disappointment with the service thus far. I couldn't figure it out. By then my buzzer went off. My food was left on the counter and the employee walked off. I placed the buzzer by a stack of others and grabbed what I assumed was my food (normally they call your name).
All in all my food was ok (except his shake. I hope they will let me have an oreo instead ). Portions are really small and food is not that great for the price. Add the service and you get 1 star. The rudest service I have had in a LONG time. The management must be just as bad to deal with it. Blows my mind. Smh!
I will check back in after I try to return this shake....
