This place was closed for at least a year between 2023-24 and reopened a couple months ago. As the only bakery on the route I walk in to work, I thought I’d try this place since it reopened. Wish I hadn’t. There are two McDonalds-style menu kiosks and a couple registers that are sporadically manned. In a rush, I ordered two things that should have been quick- a pastry and a cup of soup. After waiting 20 minutes and now almost late for work, I asked about my order (it had not been busy when I arrived). A bunch of people scrambled around- asked what I ordered (every iteration being wrong) and finally pulled a sealed bag of lentil soup from a refrigerator and poured it into a cup. I didn’t have time for them to microwave it. It wasn’t until I got to work I realized they never gave me the pastry (nothing to prepare there!) How can you mess up an order of a cup of soup and a pastry?🤷‍♂️ As for the soup? Meh. It might have been better warm but the lentils were hard - I suspect it is supposed to be served from a heated vat. Still, it was relatively bland and wouldn’t get it again. Don’t know about the pastry since I never got it. $12 for a cup of soup and no pastry? Definitely not returning, even if it is on my way.

This place couldn't do less with more. I frequently call ahead... just to wait in line. The food is never ready and of the past 5 orders has always wrong (order an entree size salad just to get small, or no drink included, or no side, I've been given the wrong person's food, etc). If there is a way to get an order wrong.... seemingly they'll find it! The main guy behind the counter seems to be a hard working dude, the only one with a clue and reasonably with it. But the rest of the place is a hot steaming mess. In spite of my liming this franchise -- I can't recommend this location. They don't appreciate their customers and don't make it easy or appealing for us. I mean the trash can is always overflowing despite having 5 people working the front. I well understand a lunch rush can be overwhelming -- particularly when short staffed -- but this is not an exception. It's just bad habits and service that seems to be convenient for the staff but not the customers. Yikes!

We were in Washington for 3 days. We used the kiosk to place our orders and dined in. The food was great, but the service was not. The first 2 days were ok, but this morning, the service was disappointing. We placed our order for food and drinks, and after 20 minutes, I had to ask how much longer it would be. The food came out shortly after that. I reminded the server that we were waiting on coffee and assumed she would bring them out. 20 minutes later, there are still no drinks. I again approached the counter where I was screamed at because they were short staffed and had issues with the computer. Also, to note that people after us were getting their drinks. I then got told they were going to close the doors. I was told to wait at the counter for my drinks. In total, 45 minutes to get our coffees. While I understand that issues arise, there is no need to blame the customer for asking for the goods they paid for. If there were issues, they should have put up a sign

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I ordered catering from this location for a 2-day workshop for my client and the staff was consistently rude to me and outright incompetent. I placed a series of six orders with this Corner Bakery location over the phone and not a single one of them was correct upon delivery, making my company look bad to our client.

The first delivery was for a morning coffee, hot tea, and bagel service. They delivered the completely WRONG order and then tried to tell me that the food not being correct was MY fault for not looking over the catering invoice prepared by them more closely. I maintained the original for my records, and the catering slip that was handed to my client had a completely different order number and list of items than the original. When I asked for a refund because the food delivered was not what was ordered, I was rudely informed that the mix-up was my fault and that I should have been more vigilant. In addition, the driver who arrived with the food didn't have a driver's license and therefore could not enter the building my event was being hosted at.

The second delivery was correct in terms of the items ordered; however, there were not enough napkins, plates, and cutlery for everyone. We were catering for a 45 person event, so there's no excuse to me why there should not have been enough plates. When I called to complain about this and ask for compensation, I was told that my client was obviously just "greedy" and that there was no possible way that there weren't enough settings for 45 people.

The third delivery was again correct in terms of the items ordered; however, the items on the invoice my client was provided with didn't match what we had originally ordered.

All of our orders for the second day of the event were correct; however, they consistently mislabeled the ordered tea and coffee services. As a result, my client didn't end up serving the beverages because of allergy and caffeine sensitivities, a waste of nearly $300.

In all of this, they must have charged my corporate card a million times, because our banking institution called to confirm that the series of charges was not in fact fraud. In addition, I called several times asking for invoices to confirm what was being charged on the corporate card to ensure we were staying within our event budget, given that nothing we actually ordered seemed to be making it to the venue. I consistently was told I would receive updated invoices that were never sent. It took me calling 6+ times in one day to finally get a refund for the incorrect food that THEY delivered and to get an updated invoice for the charges placed on my corporate card. Even still, they only refunded me for a beverage charge of $30 despite their consistent poor service and hospitality.

The only saving grace for this place was the evening catering manager I spoke to. She was incredibly accommodating and helpful. As a rule, I would not recommend doing business with this location. Every catering manager and delivery person aside from the evening manager was rude, combative, defensive, and unhelpful. I will not be doing...

I really love Corner Bakery but this location (North Capitol Street NW) is extremely disappointing, unprofessional and borderline ghetto. Not only do you have to wait long for in-person orders at the store as the staff moves at a snails pace with no sense or urgency, but our company (NBC News) placed a large catering order for lunch at 11:17 am, which did not arrive until after 1:30. That's over 2 hours. Its important to note that we are located literally on the next block. Prior to delivery, I called the store 3 separate times to inquire about the status of the order. I was first told "I don't know" but we will let you know when it's ready. The second time, I was told around 1pm. The thirds time, I was told yet again by the same gentleman that he couldn't give me an ETA. I politely requested to speak to a manager with this being my 3rd call, and was left on hold twice only to never speak to a manager. I was then told by a staff person that the first delivery driver left because the food wasn't ready, so I then had to wait for the next delivery driver. I asked for an ETA and was told 5 minutes. A short while later, I received notice that said 1:15 for estimated delivery (much more than 5 minutes). I would have offered to pick it up given our close proximity, but the order for was 90 ppl, sandwiches and salad, and was at least 10 bags. They even suggested I come pick it up if I didn't want to wait, but in the same breath refused to refund the delivery charges and fees if I did so. They didn't even offer a staff person to help. So I opted to wait for delivery. Suffice to say, when the driver finally arrived it was close to 1:30pm. Conclusion, we will never order from this location again. We order food for staff quite often and in large quantities, but unfortunately they will not get our business again...

I was in a pinch yesterday. It was my own fault--I had a meeting at 11:30 AM and needed lunch for 25 people (my week had been CRAZY, and I completely forgot to place a catering order). Anyway, I called three Paneras looking for anyone who could help me on such short notice... unfortunately, with the holidays, every Panera was slammed, and no one was able to take the order. I frantically pulled up Google maps, looking for another restaurant that might have sandwich platters. Luckily, Corner Bakery was just down the street from my meeting. I quickly called and explained my situation, and a member of the catering staff, Jessie, told me they could handle the order and to proceed with placing it online. Even still, somehow the online order didn't show up in their system, and they still had not received it when I called back at 10:00 AM. Jessie told me not to worry-- she asked me what I'd ordered and said she'd get started on it right away!! I arrived at 10:45 AM and asked for Jessie. She greeted me with a smile and told me they were wrapping everything up, and it would be out in a few minutes. Jessie and the Catering Supervisor, Herman, made sure I had everything I needed-- they didn't lecture me about the order or shame me for being forgetful. Honestly, it's really hard to come by good customer service these days, and I cannot thank them enough for getting this order together quickly and accurately, all with smiles on...
