I stayed here due to a conference going on at the hotel. I arrived early and was told my room was ready, but it was a no show room so I’d have to pay additional to check in. No show rooms are charged to the guest who did not show, so I’m not sure why I would have to pay extra to check in early. Marriott would never. I checked my bags and went to explore. Upon returning I was told it was close enough to check in time so I could check in. 15 minutes early is not doing me any favors when I’ve been waiting for 3 hours. My room was decent. However the bathroom needs improvement. The toilets have low water pressure and I always requested if it would actually flush. The caulking is tacky. My biggest issue is the thermostat wouldn’t go above 71. It’s 20 degrees out. I called the front desk who sent engineering up. The batteries were dead so he replaced it. Engineering was punctual, nice and pleasant. I waited 3 hours and it still didn’t increase so I called again. The same gentleman came up and said a sensor or switch was turned off but he fixed it. Wonderful. It still never rose above 71 so I went to bed freezing. The next morning I asked the front desk if I could change rooms due to the thermostat not going above 71 and 2 engineering visits. She agreed and I left my bags at the front desk until the conference was done for the day. I got to my new room around 6pm. Turned the thermostat up and went out for an hour. When I got back it still hadn’t changed past 71. The nightstand was dirty with clear rings from a cup so I know it hadn’t been wiped down. Same bad caulking and toilets that were questionable. Again going to sleep freezing. This morning I had a talk with the organizer of the conference to let her know my disappointment with this hotel and to please not book our conference at this hotel moving forward. No compensation was ever offered as well, which I found odd. As a platinum member with Marriott I expected better from the Hilton. I still have one more night at this hotel and not looking forward to another freezing night as it’s also starting to snow. The location and proximity to the capitol was ideal. But I’d prefer to pay more and be further for a better experience and better...
Read moreI was excited about staying here to visit a friend I hadn't seen in close to 6 years. I absolutely adored the shower which was truly like a spa experience because the water pressure of the shower was perfect, along with the water temperature, and the bed was super comfy and luxurious. As an AARP member, it was great to have the added perk of checking out at 2pm versus 11am, giving me some extra time to sleep in and relax. What didn't work was there was no up front information about getting breakfast and the limited menu was a link that was texted to your phone. But the gentleman who registered me was friendly and calm, which I appreciated. And the bathroom counter had not been cleaned. Luckily I had some Lysol wipes, and cleaned that myself. When I arrived at 5:46pm that day, the bar was busy and lively with plenty of happy customers. It was very cool that they had a little mini-market on site for soda, wine, beer, Gatorade, iced coffee, tea, etc. I wanted sparkling water at 11pm at night, and there was none to be found anywhere! In fact, there was not even any bottled water available. The bar and restaurant were closed, so no chance of getting water that way either. Thinking that maybe there was water somewhere else, I asked the clerk, who told me perhaps I could try ginger ale instead? Fast forward to 7am, on April 25 (Monday) and there was still no water in sight. Thank goodness the hostess at the restaurant was nice enough to bring me some ice cold sparkling water in a cup. I checked out at 2pm, and thought I could get more water from the bar before leaving, but they didn't open until 4pm! The mini-market never did get restocked before my departure, which was quite disappointing. A hotel of this size and reputation should not have this type of problem when it comes to something as simple as stocking water/sparkling water on-site for valued guests. They sent me a text asking for a rating, and I responded that I would write up a review once I arrived back home. After writing this review, I did receive a response to visit their site to share this information, so they could offer a resolution, however, there was no additional follow-up...
Read moreThis place messed up so bad. They had a chance to fix the problem when the primary guest asked, but they didn't and the rest of the guests on the reservation had a hard time checking in.
I stayed here with a small group of colleagues from work. This was a work trip. We had four rooms under a single reservation. The person at my work who made the reservation insisted that all our names had been added to the reservation. We were all arriving at different times.
One guest had trouble because the hotel said his name wasn't on the reservation. Ok, we can possibly chalk that up to human or computer error. He contacts the person who is listed as the primary guest. The primary guest tells the hotel that there are more guests who will check in later. Primary guests asks if he needs to provide the names. Hotel says no and everything will be fine.
I arrive later and the hotel says I'm not listed on the reservation and won't let me check in. The hotel gives me confusing info on what I need to do. First they tell me to have the primary guest use the Hilton app to add me. Then they say the primary guest has to call the hotel. I have trouble contacting my colleague because he's busy sightseeing and meeting other colleagues. The hotel also gives me wrong information about the reservation. They're saying it's two rooms. I correct them and say it's four rooms. They check closer and see two people have checked in. They're somehow confused about how that and they say they'll get a manager.
I finally get in contact with the primary guest and he gives the hotel my name and the name of another colleague who is arriving later. I was in the lobby for at least 30 minutes trying to fix this. I met with no manager and I didn't see one show up to the desk at all.
A lot of this could have been avoided if the hotel had checked the additional guest names when the primary guest asked about it when he had to sort out the check in issue the first time.
I have never had a good experience at a Hilton hotel. It was not my choice...
