Super happy to see this business continue to grow exponentially and beyond the DMV. Chef Victor Albisu and his team know what they’re doing. Taco Bamba is AT LEAST a 4.6 star establishment across the locations I’ve been to (Springfield, the old location on I (eye) street, Tyson’s, Wisconsin ave, Shirlington, little river turnpike, all of which I’ve been to at least 5-6 times each). Yes the music is loud but the fact some people would knock off 3-4 stars for that is wild to me. The menu is creative, fresh and delicious. From the ceviche to the wings (cilantro lime is in my opinion some of the best wings you can get in the DMV. Cooked perfectly crisp on the outside, juicy inside and the flavor is down to the bone). You cannot go wrong with the tacos (there are a lot of options. Just breathe and order something. It will be good) but I find myself straying from the normal order and getting things like the flautas, empanadas, street corn, cup o’bamba and did I mention the wings? Oh I did? Well I’m mentioning them again. Get. The. WINGS.
The margaritas. I’ve pretty much tried every drink (try the down under thunder for something different) and they are made so well by the bartending staff (Brianna is great) But the margaritas are so fresh and their tequila and mezcal selection is awesome and really tasty.
If you’ve reached the end of this review and are still thinking “yeah but will the volume of the music kill my taste buds” just go to Taco Bell please. There you can have all the taco paste and Mountain Dew live wire you want and listen to T swift drone on about another missed connection. I wish you...
Read moreI didn't realize they reopened a spot in DC! I'm currently on a ceviche bender and ordered from here last night. I got the bamba ceviche, cactus bambina empanada, and spicy shroom taco. The ceviche was interesting. I've never had ceviche served in a cup before, it at first looked like a smoothie. It was in fact full of pico de gallo and pretty flavorless squid pieces, they prob get them on the cheap in bulk. Very few pieces of shrimp. However, it was still tasty. I was left with about half the cup of the coconut milk marinade. The marinade was tasty, and I wound up drinking it. Empanada was disappointing... while flavorful, it was quite small for $5.50. See photo and my thumb for scale... keep in mind I am pretty small, I'm five feet tall, I am not a big person. Spicy shroom taco: Okay so the chipotle shrooms were amazing in the chipotle taste. However, there weren't a lot, there was a lot of some sort of sauce. Barely any corn, and the smallest spattering of cotija, barely any hearts of palm. The cilantro was served as leaves in a pile.Tortilla was cold and just not interesting so I just ate the insides, They DID include a bag of tortilla chips and a few condiment cups of different sauces which was appreciated. I don't think I'd order from here again. If there were more pieces of mushroom, corn, and cotija... and more shrimp other than like three little pieces... maybe I'd do it again. I am glad to see them here again. The food is flavorful, just needs to be enhanced by portions. Edited: decent amount of pepitas (which are...
Read moreAs a first-time customer at Taco Bamba, I was thoroughly impressed by the variety of tacos they offer, along with their other dishes. Having dined at many traditional Mexican restaurants as a Californian, I can confidently say that Taco Bamba gives them a run for their money. What sets them apart is their creativity—each taco has its own unique identity, especially their specialty tacos, which vary by location. Chef Christian pleasantly surprised me with his warm welcome, treating me as if I were the only customer there. His ability to intuitively understand my preferences based on a quick discussion made me feel comfortable. My personal favorite is the taco with sweet potatoes and brisket, paired perfectly with a good brewski. Itche Mama! 🌮🍺
For those curious about Taco Bamba, it’s a colorful, counter-serve storefront that serves up Mexican eats for takeout or quick stand-up dining. Founded by Chef Victor Albisu in Falls Church, Virginia, in 2013, Taco Bamba has developed a cult following for its counter-culture brand. Each location tailors its menu to the neighborhood, offering unexpected flavors and memorable experiences through generosity and creativity. If you’re ever in the area, give it a try! 🌮👏. NW...
