Ted's Bulletin - Capitol Hill — Restaurant in Washington

We were in DC for the weekend, visiting our College aged children. My son recommended this restaurant. If you arrive on a Sunday morning or early afternoon be prepared to wait at least 25 minutes. We were told initially the wait would be 45 minutes. Our party of 4 were seated by 12:45 p.m. Our waitress was not warm nor friendly. We saw a manager stopping by tables that were seated after us asking if everything was ok, she never stopped by our table. We ordered tuna tartare and the whipped ricotta to share as a starter. The appetizer was delivered by another person, we didn’t receive plates and our waitress didn’t come by to to see if we needed anything and when she finally arrived she picked up the plates and didn’t ask if we enjoyed the appetizers, which we did. The tuna was prepared and seasoned well, the ricotta was light the ingredients completed the dish very well it’s served with three slices of toasted bread and had ricotta left over, it makes more sense to serve with four slices and we would have paid for the fourth slice if our waitress came by to check on us. My husband asked for more cream for his coffee and had to remind her again. We saw and heard the interactions with other staff and patrons for which we longed for and was envious of. Our food didn’t arrive for another 45 minutes. We ordered chicken and waffle, the lamb burger, huevos rancheros, and the steak sandwich and you could tell that the food was sitting under heat lamps. We didn’t complain but we were really disappointed. Also beware this restaurant charges a 5%...

I decided to go here with friends for dinner because of all the good reviews, but unfortunately I was disappointed. Our server was friendly, but rarely checked in on us. Everyone else's food arrived except for mine. When I asked the server, she said that she was getting it. I get that this is a mistake and it happens, but my food came out 20 minutes after everyone elses and during that time there was no explanation given to me by the server, no warning it would take that long, just that she was getting the meal. All I ordered was a breakfast meal of pancakes, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and sausage.

But when it finally arrived, my order was wrong. I got fried eggs instead of scrambled eggs. I also wasn't the only one, my friend ordered bacon with her meal and got sausage patties. I felt like my pancakes were also dry, and while I appreciated the portion size of 4 pancakes, the last 2 of mine looked extremely pale. I just felt like my meal wasn't prioritized after it was missed, because when it arrived it wasn't amazing or correct.

And finally the poptarts. I don't know, it's $4 for a pop tart that seemed pretty small. It's yummy because it's homemade, but when it arrived it also wasn't warmed up, which I feel like should be the norm of how poptarts are served. Maybe you can ask the server to warm it up, but there were already problems with our meals, and our server was hard to reach, so we just enjoyed it as is. In any case, it was good, not...

We had a TIME!!!

I made a reservation for a certain time and we arrived early. The two hosts greeted us warmly, asked us how we were doing and I replied "we're hungry!" 🤣 I asked if we could be seated earlier than the reservation that was set and with their lovely care, the hostesses helped accommodate our walkers and early arrival.

We were seated nearby the movie playing on the screen and enjoyed The Three Stooges while we waited for our meatloaf entrees. Our server, Ms. Rochelle, was exceptional, ready with a beautiful smile and truly wonderful. She asked if we were ready to order after getting our drink order and before we knew it, our food was ready, hot and scrumptious, in front of us. I was highly impressed with the parsley salad atop the perfectly seasoned meatloaf, which was also atop the perfectly blended mashed potatoes and incredible carrots. While we dined on the amazing meal, we laughed and reminisced over the show playing. I'm so satisfied and full, I halfheartedly joked that I wanted to lick my plate. 😜

It was a beautiful team effort from the moment we stepped inside. Thank you to the wonderful team, from the hostesses to the server, Ms. Rochelle! I'm definitely returning and telling anyone that asks, to go to Ted's Bulletin should they wonder where to go for...
