If you’re looking for a delicious spot to eat by the water, The Point in DC seriously delivers ✨ Perfectly tucked where the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers meet, this gorgeous spot has it all. Panoramic views, cozy fire pits, delicious drinks, great service, and a menu that blew us away from start to finish. We started with Crispy Fried Chicken, Roasted Chesapeake Oysters and sushi from the raw bar (SO fresh), then dove into perfectly grilled Fish Filet and a juicy NY Strip Steak Frites that had the most delicious smoky flavor from their wood-infused grill. And the desserts? Absolutely worth saving room for! Whether you’re out for date night or just craving a next-level seafood experience, this place is the spot. ✨hosted

I wanted to take my friend out for dinner for her birthday, so we ended up at The Point D.C. The restaurant is not exactly a place that you would stumble upon, because it is located on a dead-end street, facing the water, so I am thankful that she discovered it. It was our first time there, so I wanted to try as much as possible. (I don't know why I act like I cannot revisit a place, but it's just my thing.) THE FOOD WAS STUPENDOUS. I could have said amazing, fantastic, incredible or "the bomb" but I want you to know just how pleasing the food was to my palate. We started with cocktails. I had the Point Punch. It was made with rum, cognac, Brandy, simple syrup, fresh lemon and a cherry. When I tell you that it gets your attention, it was like the glass said "looka here ... this here drink is for grown folks that appreciate the good stuff, so buckle your seat" ... LOL. My friend ordered a Reposadi Old Fashioned. She enjoyed it, but when it was time for round two, she kindly asked the waitress for The Point Punch. Now let's get to the appetizers. We had the Freshly Shucked Oysters, Fried Brussel Sprouts, Warm Crab Doughnuts and the Ivy City Smoked Fish Board. I am not an oyster person, so all that I can say is that my friend enjoyed each and every one of them. The Crab Doughnuts were very good, but the show stopper was the Ivy City Smoked Fish Board. The fish board consisted of pepper salmon, salmon candy, smoked rainbow trout, great lakes white fish salad, smoked salmon spread, tomato, red onion, chive cream cheese and bagel chips. At this point we were full, but how in the world was I going to come to a place like this and not get dinner. I am a foodie, so that wasn't even an option. For dinner, I had the Ora King Salmon. It was a bit spicy, but very delicious. The salmon sat atop charred baby boy choy, toasted almonds and tamarind curry. My friend ordered the Whole Branzino fish. You can either order it grilled or fried. I couldn't tell you which one she had because it was exactly as described ... whole. The fish still had it's face, with the mouth open. I am going to be honest with you, I haven't evolved to that level yet, but was told that it's the best way to prepare fish, with regard to flavor. The Branzino sat atop tzatziki, arugula salad and crispy falafel. (I apologize for the pics of our dinner. I didn't realize that the setting changed on my phone.) The whole experience was amazing. We ate outside by the water and was able to see the sunset. I recommend this place for any and everyone. It is a bit pricey, but worth every penny. The Point D.C. is located at 2100 2nd Street SW, Washington, DC 20024. It's best to make a reservation. I would hate for you to walk up and not be able to get a table. Check them out and I hope that you enjoy it as much as we did.

I wish I could have just given this restaurant 0 star. 1st time I went there was actually ok. Service was not that bad. However yesterday i went there thinking i was about to have an amazing evening. That short black lady with the dread locks was very rude to us. The first thing we did when we walked through the door was saying good evening, which she didn't even response. We followed her, she gave us a table that was in a section, i understand if it was a lot of us, it wouldnt be a problem, but just the two of us, at least give us something small for two in a better spot. On top of that the restaurant was not even busy, it was practically empty in there. She gave us the table, two second she was gone, no time to even tell her we didnt like the table. Finally saw her again and asked if we can seat somewhere esle. She rudely reply" why didn't you say anything, i was like cause you was moving so fast I didn't get the chance to say anything. Then she proceeded on being rude to us. Her body language, her attitude, her tone were very impolite. Her behavior was so inappropriate, even there was another customer that was seating there eating, asked me if i know her or something cause of how rude she was to us and I don't even know the lady. I spoke to the manager there, he said he was going to have a talk with her. However, i doubt he even did that, cause the way she was moving, is like she owns the place and no one can tell her nothing. With that being said, my friend and I just left we didnt eat there anymore and went back to hotel with our evening all ruined. I asked for corporate info so i could report her since the manager was scare to take corrective action against her, but everyone in there was playing dumb and no one told her nothing, I asked for her name multiple times, they acted like they didn't hear me. If i knew that this restaurant had become so getho and just hire anyone just for the heck of it, i would had never went back there. The worse is, no one apologized to us. Treated us like we were no body. This restaurant need new management if not they will lose a lot of customers. Me personally i dont think i will ever go back there. If you go there you see the short black lady with dread locks standing by the door, immediately ask for another host, if not you...

Went with my friend last month or August & I must say it may have been one of the worst restaurant experiences I've endured in DC in my nearly 7 years of living here.

  1. We had reservations, but it was not ready, then the table & floor they tried to get us to sit at was very dirty with straw wrapping all over the floor & table. I had to ask them to clean it all up because I refused to sit in a dirty place.

  2. It took forever to get seen/have orders taken & the waiter(s) seem very uninterested in servicing us. Water service was beyond slow to where we had to chase down other waiters for water.

  3. The food was just beyond appalling, inedible & unsafe. I'm not sure if we came in at a bad time, but just about everything I ordered was terrible. My whole branzino was undercooked/half raw (it had to have went on the grill or in the oven frost bitten or frozen because the inside was jelly-like/raw on one side & cooked on the other as seen in the photo) which almost made me gag; the side "arugula" salad was old & going bad/turning yellow (also as shown in photo). The tuna tostados, I think that's what it's called, was so salty that I literally couldn't eat it beyond two bites. It was THAT salty. My drink was supposed to be the Blackberry Bourbon Basil Smash... it tasted NOTHING like Blackberry, Bourbon, nor Basil. Just straight cheap liquor with food coloring. I was so fed up that I ended up ordering oysters, & the waiter had no clue about any of the various oysters to recommend, so the manager had to come in to do the waiter's job. Even though the oysters were the saving grace of my experience, two of the oysters were rancid & had to be replaced with fresher ones. The manager agreed to take the tostados & branzino off my ticket.

Again, not sure if we came in at a bad time, but it was such a horrible first impression that I strongly doubt I'll come again, especially not willingling on my own (if a friend invite me out, will likely not order anything). That's how bad my experience was. I do hope the restaurant improve on their food quality & perfect their drinks. For now, I do not recommend it. It seems like a place for an older crowd to sit by the fire pit & at the bar area to eye hump folks. Food &...
