By far the WORST stadium experience I’ve EVER had! (DC United game)
these cornballs in the pic took my new beer while I was in the bathroom and I found out when I came back cause my friend next to me said they took it. I asked who and he said those guys and that when he confronted them they said our homie took it but he fights so if you want it back you’ll have to fight him. When I got back I confronted them and asked why and they denied it. Asked them to just get me a new one and they denied it so I went to security and explained my case.
They got a supervisor and got the run around for a new beer and ended up being told to go to my seat and that they’d bring me one and handle the guys. When I got back the one on the right was repeating “over a beer bro” and I said yes, you took my new beer and denied it and didn’t offer a new one so it’s past the point of a reasonable discussion. He started to pour his next to me so I pushed his hand and then he splashed his whole drink in the face. An attendant noticed and asked them to leave and on the way out another dude splashed his drink on me and my coworker.
I then see them still there by the steps so I went to security around them like why are they here? Just kick them out already. Then dude in green started to press me and I told him to back up and he grabbed me by my collar so I grabbed him back and we went down the steps. At the bottom I tried to get up and keep my distance and then dude on right in the pic sucker punched me and THAT’S when security stepped in.
So now I’m down a beer, 2 drinks in my face, dragged down steps and a sucker punch and they STILL haven’t kicked these guys out… I am pulled away to the side and have to explain myself another 4 times and then they say the guys are being escorted out. At this point I asked to press charges. Speak to an officer just for him to tell me that I can file a report but nothing will get done… what a surprise! Oh and to make things better, they FINALLY get me my beer and said I had time to finish it. I explained I couldn’t even drink it cause the game was over and I had to drive home.
NOT ONCE was I offered napkins or a towel. NOT ONCE did they try to make it up to me by refunding me my tix, offer tix to another game, NOTHING. By far the WORST sporting event I’ve been to and the security and staff, while nice, are absolutely TERRIBLE at their job.
Never stepping foot in this arena after dealing with that crap show. So if you seen these bums, watch your beers cause they’re too broke to...
Read moreThe WORST stadium experience in my 50 years on earth. Once you get to the stadium area there are no signs on where to go. No staff directing anyone. Nobody helping direct people. Absolute chaos. By the time the game started the stadium was only half full because of the massive lines at one entrance. We later found that there were other entrances available that were much less busy but nobody could know they were there bc nobody was showing them the way.
Insane bag restrictions that created massive lines at the entrance. They weren’t even letting people take small umbrellas in. They don’t even let you take water in, which in the summer in DC is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Water inside the stadium is 5 dollars a 16oz bottle. It’s easier to get on a plane or into a federal building than see a game here.
We went thru security (bag search and metal detector) and I was with my 2 young nephews (6yo and 9yo) and after I thought we were free to go I was then grabbed aggressively by an attendant who snatched my bag and she said it didn’t fit the requirements. My children were scared and confused. She said we had to exit the arena, lock our bags up in a locker box and then line up again.
This isn’t the worst of it. To use the storage boxes you have to download an app and create an account. This drained my phone battery so much and If your phone dies during the game then you can’t get your bag back. All this was happening while the game had already started. We missed the entire half of the game for which we had paid more than 400$ for.
Absolute joke.
Edit: stadium owners have clearly paid people to write reviews for this stadium. Their reviews do not represent anything like the experience. The generic language they use means they’ve been...
Read moreTrying to put being an away supporter aside, and just write a review as a random event attendee. There was clearly some confusion when we arrived, we were placed in really nice seats in section 123 starting about row 4 or 5. View and atmosphere changed once some DC United fans broke the yellow tape and sat in front, behind, and all around us. There was no clear division of fans, event staff kept disappearing which allowed for this to happen. There were a few bad apples, but overall DC fans were respectful and we had a good experience together with our counter chants! A few of these more friendly fans promised to stop by and say hello when we came back for the regular season game, I was told it never happened. I missed that match due to car problems. I will attach a random photo so you can get an idea where away fans are sometimes placed (either corner opposite of their supporters section, which is near the Heineken Roof Too bar).
I was told seats were worse then Red Bulls Arena, no. Seats look thicker, and are closer to calf or knee high. Some minor help if you lose your balance, were RBNY it's just barely above your ankle and looks like if you fell, not even the people in front would stop you from falling. I will not be returning there again.
I like the idea of the self-serve soda/water stations. If I remember correctly, bathrooms by 123 were small. Staff at concession stands wore gloves, and replaced as needed. They also kept the lines moving.
Not a fan of the design or look of the stadium overall, especially it being so new. I do like the look of the Heineken Roof Top bar, I didn't get to visit it. But it did look interesting. Sad I missed the regular season match this year.
Random internet photos added, as I didn't...
