Location: If you are planning a trip to see the Nats play this hotel is super close. You can also see Audi Field which is where DC United plays. There is alot of construction around the hotel so be prepared for road closures and detours. Room: We stayed on the 8th floor. Room was of average size. Microwave and fridge. There was a chaise lounge next to the window which could sleep a small adult or child fairly easily. The room was warm when we arrived (77 degrees F) We really only dropped our stuff and planned on grabbing dinner before the game so I would say we were in the room 45 minutes and the temperature rose to 78 despite me trying to turn it down. No worries we went to the game and returned around 10pm. Room still warm. No air was blowing. Went down to the front desk and gentleman working sent me back upstairs with a maintenance guy to "reset" the unit. Cold air was blowing within 5 minutes and room finally starting getting cooler. Bed was super firm. My husband liked that, I did not. Cool nightlight in the bathroom mirror as well as Bluetooth, though we could not figure it out. There was no literature in the room to provide instructions on how it worked. Also no binder providing information about the restaurants or location of ice machines.
Restaurant: My friend was traveling with us and when she checked in she got a coupon for 2 free breakfasts. We booked the same rate to include parking and she doesn't know why she got the breakfast coupon but I was ready to check in and did not want to deal with it. After seeing the prices I should have. Extremely high for basic bare bones breakfast but its DC and its a hotel. So I expected it to be some what high. Service was good and fairly quick. There was also supposedly a rooftop bar but once again the lack of in room literature we were unsure of its hours or menu. Overall hotel: Very new property! Waitress at the restaurant said they opened July 11, 2021. The service I received at the front desk was basic. No employee went out of their way to be mentioned. There is a lack of information in general. No signage to let you know where to find ice or vending. Happened upon an employee in the elevator shortly after check in and asked. She thought it might be on 4. Growing pains I get it. This is a pet friendly hotel. Keep that in mind. There were several dogs in the lobby at any given time. The only thing that bothered me was the dog in the restaurant sitting in someone's lap drooling on the table. Valet: WORST experience with valet ever!!! And really looks bad for this brand new property. Hotel does not have a parking garage on sight. They use garages that are 3 and 6 blocks away. Also, no one working valet seem to know what they are doing. I forgot something in my car after I checked in and wanted to retrieve it. Our car was still in the temporary parking lot behind the hotel I stood at the valet stand with my ticket in my hand while 2 valet guys argued about moving cars. I was not acknowledged by either man even when one walked away and looked at me. I said excuse me at least 3 times and neither man would respond. I was about to walk to the front desk when another valet guy came up and asked if he could help me. We walked me to my car and I was able to get what I needed. The next morning I went downstairs around 9am and there were at least 15-20 people waiting on their vehicles. When I came back down around 1030 for breakfast there was still a large crowd and I over heard several people say that they had been waiting an hour for their car. We were lucky our car was never moved to the garage. When I gave the woman my ticket I told her my car was out back and she said it could have been moved and I was like nope I just saw it. And she was rather unpleasant. I was trying to offer to go get my vehicle myself. But another guy came up and pulled our car around within a few minutes. We were lucky.
Overall would consider staying here again if the...
Read moreThis cute modern hotel, conveniently located near Nationals Stadium, has so much potential, but it's sadly wasted. I'd made a reservation to the Cambria with decent hopes for my stay. The room was not inexpensive, though it's in line with the high rates fetched in DC. Upon entering the lobby, we were impressed by the fun, trendy interior. Almost immediately, though, we were let down. The desk staff told us that they'd overbooked, and the room type we reserved wasn't available. A minor disappointment, but we were very thankful when the pleasant employee offered us complimentary breakfast for the inconvenience. Nice customer service. Then we got to our room. Like the lobby, it felt new and modern, very comfortable. But the thermostat was completely broken, displaying nothing and appearing to be partially removed from the wall. And the bathroom door-a trendy, new-looking sliding door- wouldn't budge, stuck open. (Thankfully my wife and I are comfortable enough not to require such privacy, but given that the room they reassigned us to had two beds, this could have been a problem in other arrangements.)
In the morning, we were happy to take advantage of the breakfast voucher from the day before. We were thankful for the complimentary meal, but the entire experience was so bizarre, I question if we would have been better off going somewhere else instead. The restaurant was sparsely filled, and seemingly well staffed, but the servers seemed to intentionally avoid the patrons the entire time. When we were finally able to order our drinks (a coffee and Bloody Mary), the server said of the cocktail "Oh. A Bloody Mary? I'll have to get someone to make that for you." She then walked away, returning to our table on her cell phone asking someone to make the drink. It was baffling and had a tone that suggested we shouldn't expect such a tall order at 10:30 am during a Saturday brunch, in a restaurant with a full bar (note also: this is a menu item). The coffee was poured and the server disappeared for a long time before taking our food order. Meanwhile, we scrounged around at other tables for a sugar packet as the server was nowhere to be found for a very long time (we found out later the restaurant had no creamer anyway). Our food was fine (exceptional for a free meal) but we would have been very upset had we paid the full price for items like my $18 avocado toast, featuring runny premade "guacamole" in place of fresh avocado.
After our meal, we returned to our room to refresh with hot showers before leaving. The bathroom was clean and pretty, like so much of this hotel. And like so much of the Cambria, it put form over function. That pretty glass shower wouldn't drain, and our last experience before we left was taking a shower while standing in two inches of soapy water.
I wish I could say we'd be back in the future. The location, modern design, and moderate price point make this a very appealing option. With a little more care and attention to detail/service, this could have been a great experience. I wouldn't want to repeat this last experience, though, and with the current standard I fear that this hotel will have fallen into some level of disrepair by...
Read moreVisited this place on June 1, 2024 for a rooftop denim & dunks party. The vibes was amazing and our server worked very well under pressure being the only server on the floor. Then a good time turned out to an unpleasant/unprofessional experience when I ordered Brussels sprouts & chicken wings and didn’t receive my food but was charged and signed off on the receipt. Our wonderful sever which I forgot his name spoke with the manager Taliq informing him that I would need a refund for the food I didn’t receive and the kitchen had then closed. Taliq tried to pull my transaction up using my last 4 digits of my card which he explained he didn’t see at the time and that he would give me his card to see if it processed the next day and two complimentary drinks for my sister & I. I mentioned no thank you for a drink for me because the bartender didn’t have what I drunk. Once my sister stated she’ll take a patron margarita, Mr. Taliq then wanted to be incompetent telling the bartender that he changed his mind and discriminated against my sister saying he not serving her a drink after he stated he was going to give us two complimentary ones. I asked him was he saying he wasn’t giving her a drink in particular, he stated yes. Which was very discriminatory because that was our first time seeing Taliq and having an encounter and neither one of us was irate/rude or acting out which why we were confused in to why he singled her out. He never gave us his card like he stated he would and began to turn his back on us and walked off. Dismissing the fact I was charged for food I didn’t receive. I began to ask him for his card that he promise he would give me to follow up after the payment processed in my account. I never received the card and It was confirmed the next day the transaction was processed on my account. Forgot to mention the sever even tried to explain to Taliq that he processed my payment and I signed. Taliq, just shut everything and us out and walked us very rudely. We were then informed my workers who stated they didn’t like working under Taliq because he is very rude, and nasty, to speak with the Boss over top of him, who name is Sam. The conversation went very well with Sam. He honored my sister & I, apologized on behalf of Taliq and what occurred and also made sure my sister received her drink. I did try to make a call the following day to speak with Sam to inform him of the processed transaction but he had left and the manager on duty that I spoke with took my information and stated he would make sure Sam receive the message and get back with me. Everyone was pleasant EXCEPT rude, unprofessional Taliq. It’s scary that workers feels the same way. How he treated us I can only imagine how he treat them as if they are beneath him. Attach is photos that I was able to get after he refused to give me his card. He do not deserve to be in that position with that kind of bad customer...
