UPDATE 12/22/22 Last time it was a pizza to go; this time, we decided to dine in at The Toad House. We arrived a few minutes after 4 pm, and as I was walking inside this evening, noticing it was a little on the dated, smaller, obscure side, but there was plenty of places to sit.
Our server explaining about bringing up the menu by scanning the QR code. This is one thing that disappointed me a little (and I have said this about another restaurant) is scanning the QR Code and looking at the menu in tiny form. I'm not super fond of this practice, as many adults have vision issues, and many older adults don't have a cell phone or one that can do this. They may have regular menus for situations like that; I did not ask.
Last time we had the "Winning Combo," this time, we ordered a 10-inch "OMG" Pizza and a "Starter Caeser Salad." The OMG pizza was topped with: red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, spicy sausage, black olives, red onions, spinach, and roasted red peppers. The amount of sauce and cheese was very acceptable, and I was happy with the number of toppings. The cornicione (Cornicione means "crust," a specific part, namely the outer rim or lip of the pizza) was perfectly done, with a nice slight crispiness to it.
TheStarter Caeser Salad was on the smaller side with no bells and whistles, Romain lettuce, parmesan cheese, and croutons. It was fresh in taste, with no conspicuous lettuce and smaller croutons, which was nice for a change and easier to eat. I could have used a little more Caeser dressing, but that's a personal preference.
The dining area appeared clean, with no sticky floors or tables; I'm sure it helped with being there just minutes after opening, however for that said, I did use the restroom, which there is just a single shared restroom, and I feel someone slacked on cleaning it the night prior. The floors were messy.
Call me old fashion but it's the holidays and music played should reflect that, and doesn't need to be played so loud, it was tough holding a conversation without saying "WHAT?" all the time!
Our server was friendly and polite! Overall, the restaurant is a little outdated, but the pizza was good and something we would go back for!
"PLEASE, be kind to ALL things living!!"
Wanting more of a gourmet pizza, we decided to try The Toad House; one thing that was so enticing was the brick oven cooking. Over the years in my travels, I have heard people mention their pizza, so we decided to try it for ourselves last night! First of all, my hubby picked up the pizza, as they rely on GrubHub for delivery, and we didn't want to wait the extra time to have it delivered. I can't personally tell you how it looked inside; I can only relay what I was told and submit pictures my hubby took for me. My hubby picked up the pizza about twenty minutes after opening; he stated it was a little dated but clean. It was right after they opened, so judging cleanliness was tough at that point. He said the server wasn't rude but wasn't what he would consider friendly either. We had the Winning Combo, a little expensive at $25 plus tax and tip, but it was a good pizza, not incredible, but it is something we would order again at some point. The pizza came with a red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, spicy sausage, black olives, onions, fresh basil, fresh tomatoes. My minor complaints would be; the pepperonis were small in size, and there was hardly any on our pizza; I had two pieces of pizza and a total of 3 pepperonis between the two pieces. The spicy sausage was missing the spiciness but still had an excellent flavor. And the bottom part of the crust, although very tasty, I felt was just a tad underdone and a little bit chewy. The Cornicione ( crust ring or lip around the pizza) was perfect!

Read moreMenu prices are completely wrong. Ordered a Caesar Salad that had the menu price at 9.99 which is currently a reasonable price. Got there to pick it up and apparently the chicken is not only shredded but the price was double at $22.50. Have no idea why a simple Caesar would cost that much. I showed the gentleman the price online and he kindly stated that it was wrong and that I need to go directly to the website. If I hadn’t the respect I have for servers I would have laughed at this price and walked out. Nothing was offered to me for the innocent mistake so as a first timer to the establishment I may not be returning since I paid steak prices for rabbit food.
Edit: Well, as reflected in the response to my initial impression review, I guess that nice “gentleman” i mentioned isn’t so nice after all. I see his charm makes up for his lack of reading comprehension skills. So pictured is what I got. And he was right, there is a lot of lettuce and blanched, flavorless chicken that is pink. It has that medium rare temp so I guess that’s is what gives it the steakhouse price. Needless to say the salad was unremarkable and unreasonably priced. Watery, bland and mushy. Wish it had been at least chargrilled but some people like this kinda thing. A review is but a shared opinion. Seems some need a reminder. Pizza may be awesome just don’t order a side of Caesar.
If I had know there was a start Caesar I may have ordered that instead but would have run into the same pricing issue. And picture issue 🤷 I wouldn’t want anyone else to think the first site for toad house that pops up has the right pricing. Good to know visitors should visit the website for r/t prices. Maybe someone who doesn’t find the internet confusing should update the...
Read moreAfter seeing such stellar reviews I thought our group of 3 adults would be in for a real treat. Boy, was I wrong.
When you walk in later in the week at 7pm (the dinner hour) and only one couple is in the entire place, that's a bit of a red flag. For the record, there is NO cushioned seating of any kind. Hard wood only, including booths.
After waitstaff seating us, we wait and wait for menus. Nothing. Finally, after 10 minutes one of us got up and had to go ask if we could get menus. We're then told you have to scan a QR square. Why weren't we told this upon being seated??? So we scan this with our phones. Few minutes later they take our orders. About 10 min's later server comes and tells one of us there is no bread or perhaps baguettes for sandwiches??? After getting over the amazement of something so basic as anything with "bread" not being an option, he then proceeds to order pizza. Waited nearly 40 min's and we're all starved. They bring out pizza for ONE person. We're then told there was somehow some kind of mix up in the kitchen and the other 2 orders for our group WERE NEVER MADE (NOTE: there is only one other couple here, and they've already received their food). NO possible explanation for a "mix up", as there's NO OTHER ORDERS EXCEPT OURS. IS YOUR STAFF HIGH??? Knowing the culinary business, I think we all know the answer. Too bad, because we tip quite well. On Thur, 9/26 we sure didn't. Thanks for also making us considerably late to where we needed to be.
NOTE: Toad House uses a WOOD BURNING oven. Let's make an already BAD climate problem even worse and use natural resources that doesn't need to happen. Am still shaking my head at...
