Beware: This hotel has a caprese salad (called something different on the menu) that tasted fishy and rotted. I was unable to eat it and informed Truno and Canopy staff who acted like nothing was wrong. The manager of Truno told me that it had anchovies in the olive oil, which was not listed on the menu. The manager acted like anchovies was on the menu and after she reviewed it several times...Yep, it was NOT on the menu. Anchovies is a pretty big ingredient to leave out off the menu, especially b/c so many have seafood allergies. The staff refused to admit anything was wrong with the salad; even after, I suggested they investigate it because it could make others sick. No apologies, no customer service, and lots of excuses!
Additionally, I ate breakfast here the first morning and was shocked at the limited choices, price, and lack of service. Consider this your warning, eat...
Read moreThe restaurant can be accessed from within the Hilton property had a nice ambiance. The food is what you would expect from a good Italian restaurant. The wine list was sufficient. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. The menu had no specials and the waiter âforgotâ to bring us the âworld famousâ garlic bread appetizer that we ordered. We finally got it after our main course was served and after multiple reminders. The shrimp pasta dish we ordered didnât have the shrimp and they had to take it back and re-serve it with the shrimp a second time! The waiters were so keen to clear the table that they asked my wife if she was done eating despite seeing her working on the dinner!
On the whole the service was terrible and not worth the cost of this dinner. What made it worse was the total lack of empathy from the waiters and the manager. Needless to say, we...
Read moreThe waitstaff were kind and attentive, but the food... At its best, the food is fine, but much of the preparation is middling to downright sad. By far the biggest culprit is breakfast. Ate here during a stay twice, and the only thing at our table that was done right were the eggs. Potatoes - cold, toast - cold, pancakes - tough, rubbery, flavorless, french toast - omg, the French toast! 1/2 inch bread and the egg custard didn't even penetrate a visible amount of it. Dry room temperature bread with egg on the outside is what passed for french toast. 3 low quality pancakes alone on a plate for $15. I will give credit where credit is due, the eggs were scrambled well every time, but for what is otherwise a nicely appointed hotel in downtown DC, I would expect better than a Denny's min wage line cook turning out plates. Walk 10 minutes in any direction and do...
