Oh, my sweet, savory stars and garlicky moons! Let me tell you about the pizza at Trap Door Brewing in Washougal, WA—it’s like a culinary symphony conducted by the flavor gods themselves.
First, they lay down a pomodoro sauce base so rich and velvety, it could make a grown man weep. Then, they sprinkle on a five-cheese blend that melts into a gooey masterpiece, embracing each slice like a warm hug from your Italian grandmother. And the pepperoni? Crispy, spicy medallions that dance atop the cheese, bringing a zesty kick to every bite. All of this is crowned with a garlic-buttered crust that's so golden and flaky, it could be mistaken for the crown jewels of flavor.
But wait, there's more! Their "Brian with a 'Y'" pizza is a pesto-based delight, adorned with mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, black olives, and fresh tomatoes, all glazed with an oil-butter crust that's smoother than a jazz saxophone solo.
And let's not forget the "Spicy Polynesian"—a daring combination of bacon, prosciutto, pineapple, teriyaki BBQ sauce, chili flakes, and scallions, all resting on that signature garlic-buttered crust. It's a flavor rollercoaster that takes your taste buds on a wild ride through sweet, savory, and spicy territories.
So, if you find yourself in Washougal, do yourself a favor and step into Trap Door Brewing. Their pizzas aren't just meals; they're edible masterpieces that tell a story of culinary excellence. Each bite is a chapter, and by the end, you'll be...
Read moreUpdate: still excellent! Have been here countless times. The entire drink menu looks great, and all the food I’ve had has been great. It’s such a sweet local spot, with the wait staff knowing most of the people at the bar by name. Definitely check the website for the most up to date menu, but I’ll continue updating on here with ones that are new when I go!
The only thing I’m mad about is the fact I didn’t come in here sooner. This is the best food I’ve had in Washougal and I’m not even being dramatic! We eat out a fair bit, from dive bars to 5 star restaurants and yet nothing I’ve had from this spot has been any less than 10/10. Rarely do I order food and have nothing I’d change about it, but THIS is the exception. Their menu is small but all the food is excellent. So excellent that I late night ordered a calzone (not much open late in this area) and went back the next day for more.
The sausage and pepperoni calzone was perfectly cheesy, not overly bready, and clearly high quality ingredients.
The next day, the fondue was fabulous and the Italian grinder sandwich… well, it’s now my favorite. The bread on it is great, and I’m a major critic. The Cadillac margarita also was top notch.
I wouldn’t hesitate to order anything on their menu, nor any of their drinks. This is definitely my new Washougal spot!
A note - their menu changes regularly it seems like. Check online, but also call if there’s a single dish you NEED because even the online one wasn’t...
Read moreoverall, i'd say this is one of the "okay-er" spots in washougal, but it's unfortunate that the food (even salads) make me feel ill shortly after and all of following day (i've tried it several times over the last 3 years and it happens every time). the beer and food is overpriced for the quality. and, with a couple exceptions, the staff is pretty uncomfortable to observe... there's clearly a romantic couple on staff who can't keep their hands to themselves and follow each other around everywhere, sometimes even leaving a sole person at the bar when it's slammed. there's no AC in the summer and it's obvious the staff are overheating during service hours. all of that said, there are two women on staff who RULE. unfortunately, i don't know their names, but they are always incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. and they occasionally have a sour beer on tap that's really good. the last one was a mango lassi style -...
