I wish I could give this place a few dozen stars. Me and my wife come to Watauga once or twice a month and when we do we make sure to eat somewhere well before getting here since there aren't many adequate restaurants. On this particular day we wanted to go to a big chain pizza restaurant but when we arrived, the place wasn't very appealing. So we left and drove towards 820 and saw Tex's Star Grill. It should be noted we passed TSG on the way to the pizza joint but were dead set on Hizza Put. Well we were so glad to make it to TSG. We noticed upon entering, the dining room was pretty busy and people seemed to be enjoying themselves which was a great sign. We quickly found out why this place was busier than most restaurants on the road. Got greeted by the most welcoming individual ever in the history of dining out. Who comes out to greet patrons as they enter?!? He did and he was so kind, I thought I was at my favorite Uncle's house. The food was superb. Got the pastrami burger and that was so juicy and hit the spot. My wife got the gyro and that was the most authentic Midwest Gyro I've known and grown to love. There are quite a few Gyro places in DFW but this place gets it right! The tzaziki was delicious and thick, tasted like all the ingredients used were pulled right out of the garden as we arrived... I'm sorry for the long review. But these words aren't even enough to describe the heartfelt actions by the owner. Definitely will be coming back many times to try everything on that menu. This is why I rock the mom and pop joints! A1 service and rockin food! Absolutely worth the drive from Midlothian to come here and dine...
Read moreI am from Chicago born in raised so here'sthe honest review from some one who knows what it really should taste like. I tried this place 3x twice in the drive thru each time it was a bust! Food was hard or dried out just not great. My last time I went I walked in and went to the register. Asked for a Italian beef triple dipped w/giardiniera peppers and mozzarellacheese.(Chicago style we like our bread soggy) NOT DRY EWWW . Because I went in and told the Chef please make it how I expect it to be made I think that's the reason it came out better than the last. My daughter ordered the gyro. She said it was good the meat wasn't cooked long enough like the Chicago way so I thru it back in the skillet to give her a little crisp to the edge of her meat. I hate that everything that suppose to go on there is on the side. The gyro sauce comes in a tiny jar! The peppers come in little containers like can i just have it on top please. Like I dnt want to come home to build my sandwich. My two sides of juice for my IB was spilled all over our food due to poor wrapping on the person who bagged my food so that sucked. Not to mention these sandwiches w/fries in a pop cost 5 to 8 bucks back home THIS MESS SO OVER PRICED....Overall THIS AINT CHICAGO OR CHICAGO STYLE ANYTHING! JUST CALL THIS PLACE "I WISH WE COULD TASTE LIKE THE GREATS OF CHICAGO " OR CALL IT "APRIL FOOLS" LOL OR MY FAV "WE TRIED OUR BEST" LOL no seriously it's a okay place if...
Read moreThere is an older woman who should not be scheduled to close. We come occasionally and every time she has a bad attitude. Came in an hour till close. We go sit at a booth in the back. They “blocked off” an area of the dining room with dining chairs to be mopped and left the water bucket next to our booth. It wreaked of cleaning products, so we moved to a different table. Then another staff member came by spraying yet another strong cleaning product on all the tables around us right as our food is called. Personally, I don’t love smelling bleach while I’m trying to eat dinner. What happened afterwards is why I’m leaving this review. They moved the chairs to continue mopping, regardless of 3 more party’s coming in to eat. There was an older man that ether didn’t see the chairs or just ignored them but went to sit at the booth we were just at. The older woman went over and told him to move! Then the second party did the exact same thing and she basically yelled at them that the area was closed off and they could sit in the area we moved to. I’ve been in the service industry so I know it’s frustrating but that was inappropriate. I’ve never worked here specifically but I really think they’d have a much easier time closing the dining room when no one is in there. Vs telling the customers where they can and can’t sit. Especially when the restaurant is open for...
