The Chicken Place — Restaurant in Watauga

Seriously the absolute worst!!! I will never come back here!! First no one comes out to take your order, so we pull up, no one in site! Waited, nothing, finally had to honk. Place our order and we’re not told that we would have to wait for them to drop chicken. We waited 45 minutes!!. Saw the chicken come up neither of the two girls, that were playing around behind the counter 1/2 the time we were in the drive-thru, were anywhere to be seen! Finally honked several times. The girl came up to get the chicken and sets it aside and started to wipe the counters. I wave her down and ask what the hold up is now?? She said we are now waiting in GRAVY!! Why on earth while you are waiting 25 minutes for chicken to cook were you not making gravy??? I saw two counter people and 3 cooks….all doing absolutely nothing!!!! After the gravy gets ready, she literally spilled it all in the bag!! Take everyone out wiping it off, put it in another bag. To which when we get home we discover you had just tossed it in the new bag and gravy was all inside that bag and all over everything! The food was ok, the rolls and corn nuggets were both burnt, and after nearly an hour waiting, none of it was hot!!!! The absolute worst service and no one gave 2 cents how long they were making someone wait. Just truly...

I've been here on a few occasions now and I generally have nothing to put for as a serious complaint. The prices are a bit high but reasonable. The mac and cheese could use some work. But compared to what you would expect from any other fast food joint, the overall food quality is really good. I honestly enjoy all of their meal specials, and the point system used to acquire free sides or even a free gallon of sweet tea is pretty nice too.

Would I recommend this place to someone visiting, or someone looking for something new? I don't know. Unfortunately, there's a lot of competition out there in the fried chicken department that beat this place. Would I tell someone NOT to go here? No. It's got quality food, and I dont feel like I'm wasting my time or money while eating here. And maybe I'm wrong, maybe there's a side or meal combo they have on the menu that blows all the other chicken joints out of the water. They have a fairly large menu and I haven't tried everything on it yet. If anything is like what I've eaten thus far I wouldnt be surprised if there was.

TLDR: If you want to try the place out, it's good. It's not the greatest, but it doesn't really leave a lot of room...

Well, I decided to give The Chicken Place a try....AGAIN. Even though I live only about 6 blocks away I quit going there about 4 years ago due to the poor quality of their food. Recently I read some good reviews on a foody website and thought maybe they had closed the book on poor quality. Unfortunately they have not! I ordered the 3 piece chicken meal and ask the young man taking my order to make sure it was screaming hot please. I received my order in a reasonable amount of time, paid and drove home. I set down to eat, mind you no more than 4 minutes had elapsed from the time I departed The Chicken Place until I sat down to eat. When I opened the box there were 3 chicken tenders, a small handful of fries, a small container of runny white gravy and 1 roll so hard I couldn't chew it. And of course the chicken tenders that I did not order were barely warm, extremely dry so much so that I couldn't eat part of it. You may ask why I didn't take it all back due to the fact I live so close, well it so happens it was raining heavily and it wasn't worth getting soaked.
