Santopietro Deli — Restaurant in Waterbury

On sandwich day a week ago I was craving pastrami with mustard. There are some chain places around but I wanted the local deli feel.

After driving around town I stopped outside this place. Lisa, the owner, was outside and began talking to me and was excited to show me what they had to offer.

Their hot buffet area is really nice and they seem to keep a variety that changes often. They also have homemade cold foods, rice pudding, cake, soup, and pizza rolls that are all ready to take home.

The reason I went was for the deli but the hot food area looked so good that I bought almost 30 bucks worth of food to have for the week.

I got their spicy chicken tortellini pasta, macaroni salad, a large hot pastrami grinder, some cake, and a couple of cannoli.

Everything was superb! Not only were the portions incredibly generous but there was also a home cooked feel which definitely hits the spot.

The food being great is reason enough to visit but the hospitality and service is also excellent. the owners are very sweet and seem to really want to give their customers a great experience.

Definitely give this...

$15 FOR A BLT ON A HARD ROLL, PICKLE, AND SLICE OF CHEESECAKE... IS A LITTLE MUCH. SHE CHARGED ME 2$ MORE THAN THE PRICES ON THE WEBSITE... WHEN I BROUGHT THAT UP TO LADY, SHE MENTIONED ITS AN OLD MENU [SO THEN UPDATE IT... SO YOUR NOT FALSE ADVERTISING.],,, THE BREAD ON ALL OUR SANDWHICHES WAS HARD AS A ROCK. . AND THEY DIDNT PUT ANY LETTUCE ON MY COWORKERS SANDWHICH EITHER! OLIVE ONION HAM AND CHEESE? WHERE THEY DO THAT AT? WE HAD TO PAY EXTRA 2$ EACH FOR A PICKLE ON THE SIDE.... AND THEIR PICKLES ARE STILL CUCUMBERS! HONESTLY WO DERING HOW THEY ARE EVEN IN BUSINESS.... VERY...

I never leave reviews...but I needed to let everyone know that this is not the same owners. My sandwich is nasty...chicken cutlet on a roll. The chicken is hard and chewy...not crispy cutlets. Like it's cheap chicken. The American cheese is the one wrapped in plastic. My sandwich was $17 after delivery. It was awful. I will not be returning. I thought it may have been bought out by a family member. I'm sure that isn't true. This is not even close to what it used to be. I wish them luck...maybe the new menu is better ...don't order...
