How y'all doing? getting around the country sure does have its perks, waiting on a load heading down to Florida you got to figure you're in man what else you going to eat not not moose, that's right Get some Lobster of some sort, yeah you know Lobster sandwich lobster roll lobster soup lobster stew Lobster Lobster Lobster, lobster stew at a place called Governor's Restaurant and bakery , I was told about this place by the yard jockeys up there to Papermill, at first glance it's one of those you know restaurants in the hotel thing, so I go on in and two lovely ladies by The entrance way as you go in and I might want to tell you this right off don't go out the entrance there's an exit where you walk out just look for the restroom signs all right there's an exit on there as well which would take you to out into the hotel until up to the rooms which I did not go to cuz I have my room on wheels any way back to the subject at hand here everybody wants to know about good place to eat right? I went in there with one goal Lobster I left with lobster because it was that good I had lobster stew I was going to get lobster tail Lobster this Lobster that Mandy, that would be beautiful Mandy the waitress suggested the stew so I went for it oh, I asked for Ice-T and we came to the conclusion that we would mix to sweeten unsweetened and it was perfect, you know when there's just the right amount of ice cubes in there,? You know come on proper klinklang whatever I don't need to explain that, so I get my stew and I'm just taking back looking at it, it's like where's the lobster well just below the surface was a mound of lobster meat in there trusona moisture crackers in there you know the ones that don't taste like oysters? So beautiful Mandy says she's going to come check on me and I said oh please do, well she did and asked if I wanted to add anything else to my lunch I should know this was definitely enough like she suggested it would be and but I'll take one to go she comes back and I said Mandy would you be so kind take a photograph with me, that's right I said with me I'm no longer married alright well I'm not divorced yet but who cares? My soon-to-be ex-wife didn't anyway back to the subject at hand, so I'm pretty certain Mandy has been asked in the past would you mind taking a picture of me or us or the family, but I don't think she's been there too often I can't say never because who wouldn't ask her to have a photo taken with her? No need to answer that anyway back to the subject the food, food is wonderful don't miss it, you know when I think of me and I think of older for some reason you know it's like that place you pass through when you was a kid still looks the same but who cares only shallow people would care it's not what's on the exterior it's what's on the inside and that place is chocked full of Good Eats so anyway I hope to get back here soon maybe maybe I'll have lunch with me maybe those fine ladies Barbara and what was the other one's name I don't remember I'm bad with those remember? Very disappointing Thanskgiving Meal. I usually do all the cooking holiday meals for the family. Our home is under construction and I currently only have a fridge & microwave. Decided to order the dinner for 8 and pick up on Thanksgiving morning so it would still be hot when ready to eat at noon. Weather was freezing rain but I braved the roads and drove the 1/2 hour down to pick it up. Round trip actually took me 2 hours due to conditions. Pickup was a breeze and never left my vehicle, staff member placed all food in back of my vehicle, I paid and headed home. Had several major issues after that. #1 all food for 8 people was packed in one bag. Several foil containers were crushed leaking juices onto bottom of bag. Can you guess what happened when I lifted it out my car? Bottom of bag disintegrated and our dinner was on the ground. #2 I had expected a hot meal from a restaurant on Turkey Day. My mistake, ICE COLD! It apparently was package the previous day and refrigerated until pickup. UPDATE: Ad on facebook actually says Hot family meal, so make sure you ask. Seems they offer it both ways. Spent next few hours salvaging what dropped food I could and microwaving small amounts at a time on paper plates. #3 Called Governors to advise them of overfilling bags. On positive note, manager was quick to offer replacement but due to weather, I couldnt go back. She promised to mail a gift card but it has been a week and no card yet #3 No butter or other condiments included. #4 1/2 the package of Rolls were hard #5 Apple pie was almost brown with excessive amount of cinnamon and was barely sweet. Feel like cook switched sugar/cinnamon ratio or forgot sugar altogether? I've driven by various Governor's hundreds of times over the years and avoided it like the plague because I consider myself pretty picky where I go out to eat -- but finally took the plunge for lunch when I decided my curiosity had to be satiated.

I fully expected to walk-in, and walk-out before even sitting down -- and I nearly did, because although it was definitely clean, everything was quite old and drabby. The tables had coffee ring stains on them that looked like they could have been 30 years old. Every table had a ring on it. But again, it was clean.

I got a cocktail, which wasn't really the best I had ever had, but at the price point ($8), I won't complain. It was served in a clean glass actually made out of glass, which I was happy with (vs. being served in a plastic cup, as many establishments seem to do now).

I ordered a turkey club sandwich with fries. The presentation was a bit sad (the fries were dumped on top, at first I thought I was only given a huge plate of fries), but honestly, the turkey club sandwich was one of the best I've ever had, and the fries were cooked perfectly. I wasn't really in the mood for desert but took two to go (some sort of key lime coconut pie), I ate it that night and it was delicious. My friend ordered a lobster roll (which I was somewhat concerned about), but he advised it was delicious.

So, I had expected that my years of avoiding Governor's would be vindicated, but now I'm kicking myself for letting my assumptions get the better of me all this time. Will I become a loyal Governor's patron? Probably not. Would I eat here again? Definitely. Would I recommend it to someone seeking an unfussy, diner-like...
