Parking can be a little scarce during peak hours. It is wheelchair accessible though it might be a little tight navigating the facility. The establishment looked a little run down which somehow seemed to fit the 'old english' tavern theme that I believe they were aiming for. It is a small restaurant but there were stairs leading down below that might have opened up into a larger dining area. The waitress that served me was a cute redhead who was friendly and professional. She was a bit under informed about the meal I ordered, which was a little disappointing. Nonetheless, she was helpful, polite and attentive. The menu selection was high-end diner, and not too inventive. Again, this really seemed to compliment the theme of the establishment. It just left me with this rugby, british pub vibe. Really well-done. I ordered a lobster Mac & Cheese. It was decent and the portion was very reasonable. The sauce was a tad thin which was complimented by two pieces of bread. There was plenty of claw meat in the dish as well and a small amount of bread crumbs crowning the meal. It was a great establishment to frequent with friends but not a place to "Wow" a date. It fealt like a place you could easily make a regular watering hole were you so inclined.

Well I have given this place many chances at having my business but I'm giving up on them even after they shut down and then reopened It still sucks the food is not worth my time went there yesterday with my mother and her friends they got what they got but first they got their salads in square bowls That's not cut up how much of a pain in the ass that is just watching them trying to cut their salad if you're going to serve someone a salad that's really hard to cut up in a square bowl maybe it should be cut up first I ordered french fries because nothing has changed in there and have had many other things not cooked right so I got french fries $10 french fries that weren't even hot waitress didn't come by for another 15 minutes after she dropped off my fries well by then they were really cold I just asked for a box I'm all set I'll pay for my fries here's my review it's not good but neither was the service so I'm all set have a good day

This used to be our go to spot, but it seems slowly but surely they've gone down hill in quality. Hubby and I had a rare date night the other night and we're going to stay home, until we saw they had their limoncello chicken, which we'd had in Feb and loved. So we rushed right over, and sadly ended up having to get dinner from the frozen section at hannaford. The chicken was awful. Overcooked and tasted like old grease. I took one bite of my chicken and hubby ate one of his pieces before the taste became too much. We won't be back for awhile sadly. They took 30% off each meals we ended up spending over $50 for essentially a drink, rice, carrots and a side salad.

The food is phenomenal. Much like most places now a days. However, the servers just want to make money. It was horrible and usually is... Servers now a days make over 25 dollars an hour for NO education beyond high school. Lets be real its usually over 30 plus an hour... Service...should be absolutely perfect. ALWAYS. Especially during a slow time.... I can not even imagine what a busy time must be like... Stick this place in a bigger city or in another state, I am not sure it would be nearly as successful. The only reason it is still standing. Is it's Maine, Waterville, only so many places to go? Its truly a local spot - read summary in google and not that like cool "dive bar" spot. The FOOD and the CHEFs are also what bring people back. NOT the service... Which falls back on the owner... Nice fishbowl... ;-D... one of my pictures at a place I was beyond proud and blessed to work and eat at. Has over 100k google views.. hmm...?

If you're a tourist to Waterville, your money can definitely be spent else where traveling outside of the area or other local restaurants. The beautiful drive or the longer wait time at another local restaurant would be worth it. As someone who has traveled and lived all over this nation from growing up here in Maine to Colorado to Hawai'i to Alaska to quiet a few other states as well, trust this well "seasoned" traveler and just go some where else for your money. I have given a few chances on this. Sadly, to my almost 6 and almost 2 year old who absolutely love the mussels we won't be back. Kudos to the Chefs though!!...

Tucked away in the heart of Waterville, The Lion’s Den Tavern is a welcoming retreat for food lovers, craft beer enthusiasts, and families alike. Whether you're stopping by for a casual dinner or looking for the perfect spot to unwind with a drink, this local favorite delivers on all fronts.

From the moment you walk in, the warm, inviting atmosphere sets the tone for a great experience. The menu is packed with flavorful, well-executed dishes, making it clear that quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation are at the heart of their kitchen. One standout is the Big Bleu Burger—a mouthwatering combination of Cajun-rubbed beef, crispy applewood-smoked bacon, bleu cheese crumbles, fire-roasted red peppers, and roasted garlic aioli, all nestled on a toasted brioche bun. It’s a bold, satisfying choice that pairs perfectly with one of their impressive craft beers or a handcrafted cocktail from their full bar.

What truly sets The Lion’s Den apart is its ability to strike the perfect balance between being a go-to neighborhood hangout and a family-friendly destination. Whether you're catching up with friends over drinks, enjoying a meal with your kids, or just looking for a cozy spot to relax, this tavern makes you feel right at home.

If you haven’t been yet, consider this your invitation—The Lion’s Den Tavern is a must-visit in Waterville for anyone who appreciates great food, quality drinks, and a...

I have been to the Lion's Den twice in the last 2 weeks. The first time I ordered the Mussel's at lunch, and they came out cold, and not a drop of broth in the bowl. The bread was just thrown on the plate without grilling or warming up. The mussels at the Lion's Den have always been amazing, so I was really disappointed at how they came out this last time. I have had them there several times. I informed the waitress, she apologized, took them from me and threw them in the trash. I am quite sure she never brought this complaint to the kitchen's attention. A week later we went back, for dinner and someone in our party ordered the pulled pork Mac and Cheese. It was absolutely horrible. The kitchen mixed the bbq sauce in with the mac and cheese and mixed the pulled pork in with it as well and drizzled more bbq sauce on the top. Just a few days before a friend of mine ordered it, and it was amazing. I tried it. The pulled pork was placed on the top of the mac & cheese, and the kitchen did not drizzle or mix in any bbq in the dish. I am not sure what is going on in that kitchen, but your food needs to come out the same way every time. A message for the owners...you better keep an eye on your cooks as someone back there isn't paying attention or doesn't care about how they are sending...
