El Palmar is a great restaurant sometimes, an ok restaurant MOST of the time and horrible restaurant very FEW times. I have been frequenting El Palmar for quite a few years now. The past 3 times I have eaten here however left me wondering if there is new management. The steak in the burrito has been all grizzle and fatty, cold and rubbery in texture with noticeably lesser amounts of every ingredient for the burrito. The chips have tasted like they have them fried in Oil that fried every piece fish the place had and continued to use that same oil for an entire week. Just Gross! And I know it's just neglect on the restaurants part, they should know how often to change their fryer oil. But like I said I have been visiting here for years and I'm willing to give it another shot. So El Palmar, if you do read your reviews, please, take this to heart and make me wanna visit...

I should have taken a picture. You have to see it to believe it. I have always ordered to go shrimp fajita dinner, so I know what to expect when I pick it up. I get home and I open it and I am shocked. Lord as my witness, it looked like it fell on the floor and the swept it up and put it in the box. So, I call to let them know what I discovered. I was very nice about it when i explained it and the girl said she will get the manager. The manager said he would make me something else, but I ddnt want anything else. So he then said he can refund me. I go back to the place and show him, and he said that's the way they make them. NO SIR, unless u got a new cook, this is not acceptable. So she gives me my refund and not one time did I get an apology for this inconvenience. They both made me feel like I was crazy for not eating that. I am taking my...

Without a doubt, the best place in the city, maybe even the county for tacos. I literally can't get enough of their steak tacos with guac to start it off. To put it in perspective, my grandparents live in Mexico for 5 months or so a year on a local island (aka not a touristy area) and they absolutely love the food here!! They actually started going without me after I introduced them to this awesome little restaurant! Lol! But the food is always very quick and very, very good. The waitress is an absolute sweetheart and can easily keep up when the restaurant is full. Also, the dining room is always clean along with the bathroom being clean as well. All in all, I'll tell anyone who will listen to stop here and at least try their tacos because I rest assured that they won't leave unhappy or feeling misguided....

Warning: They do not serve margaritas. Beer is available, but no booze. This place is small, with only 6-8 tables, and far from polished, but the staff is friendly and the food is good. They start you with chips and salsa, and I appreciated that the salsa had more flavor and bite than most Mexican restaurants that play it safer. I had the combination fajitas seen pictured here, and the person I was with had the shrimp. They do not peel all of the shrimp that they cook. They are mixed in with everything else with the tails still on, and sometimes with shell. The food comes out quickly and there is a little bar area where you can play gambling machines and wait for a carryout.

In short, Taqueria El Palmar has fantastic food that is cheaper and quicker than most fast food places. I try about every Mexican place I can find, and this is the real stuff! I was pleased to find mole (Aztec style "sauce"). My wife got her "standard" Carne asada tacos, and we were both pleased that food came about 5 min. after ordering, and we both ate well for $15. Keep in mind that a taqueria is by nature an informal lunch/dinner place more like fast food. No margaritas, but the food is great and they even have "all-day breakfast."

Food is great! My husband and I definitely enjoy our food every time we come. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you receive. Large portions, flavorful, quick service and not Americanized. Their horchatas are huge for a large and cheaper then other places near by and they taste amazing! Would highly recommend, the only reason I rated it a 4/5 is because didn’t enjoy their chips and salsa but their food itself is good. The picture is a tacos locos dinner and a chicken chimichanga dinner for both dinners after tax was $23.08.
