I stopped into OneStopWonders and was genuinely blown away by the experience. Not just by what they had in stock. It felt like walking into a time when stores actually cared about customers.
They carry all kinds of items you may have forgotten about. The store is loaded with video games, game consoles, comics, posters, collectibles, movies, and a ton of Funko Pop! Even found the power pad for the original NES My mom sold at garage sale. Core memory alert.
What made the visit even better were the classic arcade machines you can actually play! I found Mortal Kombat, the original Simpsons arcade game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even Pac-Man. It was like going back to the 80s without Reagan.
What really stood out, though, and this is actually why I came here to put up this review, were the two guys working the counter. Unlike most places these days where the staff barely looks up from their phones, these two engaged in actual conversation. You could actually tell they cared about their business. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly proud of their store. These two genuinely enjoyed connecting with customers.
You see, earlier that same day, I visited a few other shops on the same strip. Here’s a few of my experiences from the strip.
A record store where the clerk barely looked up from her phone.
A novelty shop that open light, where I got almost zero engagement and left feeling like a burden.
An antique store where the person working didn’t even acknowledge I or another customer that walked in ahead of me was there.
OneStopWonders was the complete opposite! They welcoming, and full of positive energy. I really wish more businesses were like this.
Oh, and this is the best part. I mentioned I was looking for a specific Garbage Pail Kids card with my name on it, and the two guys at the counter actually went through their stack to help me look instead of just ignoring me like a deer staring at a Ford focus on I-94.
This place is more than a store it’s a throwback to when shopping felt personal and fun. I can’t recommend it enough and yes, I...
Read moreIf you are looking for cards, I do not recommend this shop. I bought 3 packs of Pokémon cards from this place and found out they have been repacked. After opening them, I discovered that all the cards are fake. As you can see in the photo of the foil card, I was simply able to peel back the foil on it. I have 2 other foil cards just like this. The second photo shows other examples of the fake cards. I took the repacked pack and cards to another shop and they confirmed my suspicions. I also added photos of one of the repacked packs as well, and a photo of the receipt. I tried to give this shop the benefit of the doubt and showed up within the hours that it says they’re open but...
