We stopped in for lunch on this past Saturday. First time ever being in this establishment. The decoration is killer in here, great art work pieces and cool light fixtures. My husband ordered the curd burger and loved it. I on the other hand wasn't so lucky. I asked the waitress about the enormous stuffed meatball with red pepper marinara sauce and how spicy it would be. She said not at all, it's only to give it flavor. Now I understand people have different heat tolerance but there was way more red pepper then just for flavor. She could of offered to bring me a sample of the sauce to ensure it wasn't too spicy for me. The noodles were cold and over cooked. Sauce was very watery and spicy. The meatball was awesome but hard to enjoy it with the terrible sauce. I had told the waitress when she brought the check about the noodles and sauce and that I was disappointed with it and she didn't seem to care one bit. She offered us dessert of key lime pie and a chocolate cake. We each ordered one only to find out the key lime was not available. I was disappointed with that as well after having ordered it only to be told it...
Read moreWe live 5 hours south of Wasau and visit the area for ski trips a few times a year. One of the first places we stop after checking into a hotel is Malarkey's. Now, don't misunderstand this review as someone who hasn't had good Wisconsin food and cheese before, but Malarkey's does it up right. Everything we've ever eaten here has been absolutely delicious, and we can't find anything better for pub fare style food. The cheese curds themselves I can't stop thinking about for days after getting back home. Heck, I'm writing this review two weeks after last visiting because the Malarkey's cheese curds were on my mind!
In addition to the food, the atmosphere and service is rock solid. Every time we visit, Tony greets us and remembers us from visiting before. I'm not sure how he does it because we only have a chance to visit a Wasau a couple times a year, which usually ends up being about 5 or 6 Pub stops.
This is our go-to spot for drinks and food. It's the first place we get food when we get into town, and the last place we eat before leaving...
Read moreI was disappointed! I had heard great things about Malarkey's and Townies. Went there last night and the waitress was not on her game. I asked her to tell me about a couple items on the menu and she told me one they were out of and the other was popular. She seemed less than interested in helping me with a selection. I ordered the second and couldn't eat it. This is after I was brought the wrong meal first so I had to wait while my friend ate her food. No appologies and she sent another server over with the correct order. I feel had she answered my questions about what was in the item I was ordering I never would have ordered it. I still had to pay for it. They did offer me something else but honestly I wouldn't eat anything else they offers for St. Patrick's day. At least I hope that was a special St Patrick's day menu. Then the person I was eating with ask her to specifically box only a portion of the rest of her food and she just dumped it all in a container. Not returning to...
