Edit: Congratulations on the new restaurant location! Glad to see you expand and that the seating is much much better!
Original Review from 5 yrs ago: Kobe is a favorite restaraunt of mine. Nearly every menu item is a reasonable or even cheap price, and the quality is mid-grade to high quality. In my book that means "It almost always tastes great and properly cooked, but can vary sometimes depending on who's cooking."
I have to recommend the large Teriyaki chicken bowl (or entree if you want some good veggies too), ask for extra teriyaki sauce, as well as the Volcano Roll.
The volcano roll is basically a deep-fried sushi, with crab meat and cream cheese on the inside. It is stacked up into the shape of a volcano, with spicy mayo and eel sauce running down from the top as if it were lava. Unlike its name may suggest, it is not spicy at all. But it IS hot, gooey, with the refreshing taste of crab to finish it off.
The staff here are generally friendly, even with a lunch rush going on. My only wish for this place to improve is getting a bigger restaraunt for more dining space. It's a bit crowded and you often end up snuggling in next to a random stranger due to the awkward seating, or having waiting customers glaring at you for taking your time eating because they want your table. Also, when eating soup, I would appreciate a real spoon, not a cheap plastic one that melts. And they used to play music appropriate to the culture and theme of the restaraunt -now it's just pop music.
To summarize, Great food, great prices, nice staff, but awkward restaraunt. Even with the restaraunt itself being a bit of a downer, this place still gets a...
Read moreThe place was very small, which I read from other reviews so I expected it. We ordered chicken and shrimp hibachi, when the food came it was steak instead of chicken. I told the lady it was wrong, she insisted I placed the order. I told her there is no way I would have said steak because I am allergic to beef, I cant eat it at all, so the cashier placed the order incorrectly. She would not fix it, the only option she gave us was to order a side of chicken and pay for it, so that's what we had to do. Aside from screwing up my order and not fixing it, the cashier was very rude as were all the others working in the "kitchen" including the girl who brought our food to the table. The food itself was not good, the rice was not the typical hibachi rice, the chicken was bland, my husband did not like the steak (he said it was too tough), the shrimp were ok and we did order a few sushi rolls which were also just ok. Soup and/or salad does not come with your meal here like a traditional Japanese steakhouse, you have to order both separate. I did order a salad with ranch, I got a plate full of lettuce with a couple of sliced cucumbers, that's not a salad so dont waste your money. The entire experience was horrible so skip this place and save your money. The aftermath my husband and I went through after eating this food is enough to make me never return, we were fighting over the bathroom the entire weekend thanks to this place, avoid...
Read moreI use to love going here for sushi & bowls. I don't think I'll return unless they change them cheap styrofoam plates. I never went anywhere to dine in for sushi and ect to eat on plates like that. Spent $50 for it to look sad. Also I ordered multiple sushi for different people it came out all on two styrofoam plates. I don't eat seaweed wrapper but mine was placed with everyone elses when the chicken bowls came out the lady carried them around to 3 other tables which i can look past but her holding then with her finger tips around the top by the food that's a huge nono! They also was in styrofoam bowls so food wasn't as hot as it should have been, but she carried everything in the order with her finger tips by the food. If those two things could be changed i would go back...
