Chili's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Wayne Township

Our server, Coco (sp?) was attentive, competent and fun. Above that though, she was empathetic, motivating, genuine, a first class teammate and someone I truly see as executive material. Long story short, a fellow employee dropped a glass of milk...it was her first day and the young lady was frazzled after a long shift. She felt much worse than she needed to about it. Coco assured her that she appreciated how hard she had been working throughout the day and essentially that the many ways the young lady had already proven optimism is well placed in her outweighed this minor mistake that frankly, happens. It was heartwarming and in that one brief interaction within earshot but out of sight from me I heard hope for humanity. We need more Coco's but this Chilli's is lucky as hell to have her. During a time when employees are hard to find, good employees encountering better opportunities, people like her should be paid more or somehow compensated extra and/or elevated onto a platform where Coco can expand her positive culture team building.

Coco, if you read this... Sorry if I spelled your name wrong but thanks for the great service and thanks for making our day. You filled my wife's and my hope balloon.

Lastly, I know it's more sentimental than a regular review, but if you read this far, I'm sure you can relate to a moment where someone cared enough about you to tell you they cared, yet you barely knew each other. Absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced while dining in Sioux Falls. My husband and I enjoy Chili's and chose to eat there for lunch after attending an appointment. When we arrived there was two couple waiting ahead of us and the host informed me there would be a 10 minute wait. I expected this as it was lunch time. I let her know we would be willing to wait and sat down by the door. Not 1 not 2, but 3 couples whom arrived after us as well as a group of 4 all of which had been told there would be a wait were seated before us. I've worked in the food service industry and am therefore always willing to be patient, but this was unacceptable. The final straw for us was when the host informed a couple who had gotten there 20 minutes before us there was a booth available. The very kind gentlemen being seated by the host offered my husband and I the booth after acknowledging we'd been waiting longer then he had his companion had. The host interpreted to tell the gentlemen there would be another booth available for us shortly. I was not vulgar, rude, or unkind to this young woman hosting in anyway. This is the second time we've experienced this at this particular Chili's. We will not be back. I do regret not speaking to the manager. No doubt this very entitled young woman does the...
