I have stayed at Candlewood Suites for many years I really actually particularly like them. But as I went to Sioux Falls South Dakota this last weekend with my mother I may be changing this in the future. Everything is as I expected, a nice room, clean, comfortable beds and it was closed to all the activities that we had planned on participating in.my mother actually wanted to know what the price of the room was because she was splitting the price with me and we could not get that from the check-in girl.then she didn't know whether if we were paying for it which I assumed we were or if I was using my points. She didn't really know the difference so then when we tried to pay the $5 fee that didn't work for some reason we were having a problem with the credit card program.so I told her maybe we should just run the credit card and pay for the room ahead of time along with the $5 down payment and I would get a refund the next day. She couldn't do this either she couldn't Rhonda $5 and she couldn't run the payment so I couldn't get a receipt I have no idea really in the end what happened with the whole thing if I paid the $5 if I didn't or if I was charged that on my credit card or not I will have to wait and see.I was getting a little frustrated at this point it was taking a little long just to get something on a piece of paper saying how much I owed and to get the $5. She was not very pleasant with me and she couldn't hardly type because her nails were so long that she could only type one letter at a time I think that is a little ridiculous in my opinion. She said she would have the manager come and help me when she got in to work. The manager never did come and see me she said she stopped but we were not there. she probably should have left a note under the door or on the door for us so that at least I knew she stopped by. When checking out the next day she didn't even want to hear my side of this of what was going on. The check-in clerk said that I was being rude and uncooperative or something I'm not quite sure.the manager told me she would have told me that I needed to go find a room elsewhere which I have never heard that before in my life I was totally stunned over not being able to get a receipt I was a little angry at this point and so was my mother. it's not like I'm young I'm 59 years old and don't act like a total idiot all the time.I just get frustrated if I'm asking for a something simple as a receipt or to pay for my bill in advance so I can have a receipt I should be able to get something even if it's handwritten I just wanted to know how much I owed.the way I was treated in response was way out of control I was very upset when I left and I will definitely not be coming back to this place of establishment or will not tell other people to visit here.

Read moreI have stayed in Sioux Falls many times and typically, I stay at one of the hotels closer to the Empire Mall. This time, I have tried something diffierent.||This is probably one of more difficult reviews I have written because there are both goods and bad parts regarding this hotel.||I will begin with the good. I found the management and front-desk staff very helpful during my stay. The friendly staff made the stay very enjoyable. ||Likewise, the modern and clean ground floor was very welcoming. ||Last good, raised the issue of about the room being cleaned and management immediately addressed it.||It is not until you get to your room that some of the issues are noticed. I found the room to be very outdated. The furniture was very worn and old. The carpet looked, as though, it was there since the 80s. For a lack of better description, it had a very cheap Motel 6 feel to it. ||To add to Motel 6 vibe, the room was only cleaned once during my 2 week stay and it was not cleaned very well. To make it worse, cleaning staff never stopped by, every few days, to see if I need coffee or towels. I raised this issue and it was addressed.||From staying there and talking with staff, the hotel is going through an upgrade. This was appearent with the work being done while staying there. ||Another drawback was the kitchenette. While it had 2 burners there was only 1 frying pan. This made cooking a meal very difficult, like breakfast. ||Finally, the big drawback for me, is it is not very near anything. While yes, it is near a few restaurants and WalMart. If you do not have a car, the walk is a good 5 - 20 minutes and if it is winter, then it can be a very brutal walk. ||As for me, would I stay there again? Not sure, I might be willing to try it again once the refurbishing is done. However, it will not be my preferred hotel and the lack of cleaning the rooms has really put me off wanting to say here. Plus, the hotel does not offer breakfast, which with a kitchenette you do not necessarily need. However, the option is nice because if you have a busy day, with one frying pan, then having the option for breakfast take the pressure off of you plus it helps defray the cost of an extended stay.||My advice, consider carefully the lack of cleaning of rooms, no breakfast being provided, and the distance from restaurants and shopping against the room rate. It is not the best hotel and it is not the worst. However, the lack of amentiies can be fraying especially if you are staying...
Read moreI am a doordasher, and the experience i had making a delivery at this establishment while the overnight, Gerry, was working - was horrible. My delivery was for a 2717 S Carolyn Ave, which in google pulls up Candlewood Suites, also shows the picture and everything of said hotel - which i'm sure this is why the customer used this address for their delivery, not knowing it wasn't the actual address. when i came to make the delivery, the older front desk lady was slouched in the chair in the corner, playing on her phone, barley looking up to assist me. i told her why i was there, and she said it was the wrong place and shoo'ed me out the door. i tried calling the customer numerous times with no response, to verify i was at the correct place. after trying another hotel close by and upon further investigating that the first hotel was indeed the correct hotel, i went back inside to explain my findings to the front desk agent in hopes to obtain some sort of guidance or assistance with figuring out where my customer was. She again was short and persistent that i was at the wrong place. kept repeating what their address was and shaking her head at me as if i was interrupting something. i pulled up in google in front of her that the address on the delivery was in fact her hotel, and she continued to argue the fact. i explained to her that i was just relaying that the address on google was not accurate, and that i was at the right place. after trying to contact the guest yet again with no response, i asked the front desk lady if i could leave the order at the front counter and send my necessary picture when dropping off an order. the lady blatantly said no, we don't allow that. when it has never been an issue at another hotel i've delivered too. moral of the story- the over night agent acts as if her job is to sit and do nothing, and not assist anyone that needs help during the overnight hours. how she treated me was not a good representation of customer service and she should be spoken too about how to handle situations like these for...
