I have recently went to Lana Del Ray at The District let me tell you it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Now before the thrashing I’m not rating the performance of Lana Del Ray I’m reviewing The District because she was fantastic! My wife and I paid extra for the vip tickets which says on the website we must be there before 6:15 or we will miss early access. Not knowing how long the line for vip would be and not knowing how many of the “exclusive Lana Del Ray gift sets” where going to be available we decided to get there around 5 thinking we could brace the cold for an hour and some change. First of all they sold alot of vip tickets. We waited until 650 before we got inside. General admission was at 7. Well that’s ok right we paid extra for the 10 mins before the other people and we get the “gift set!” Right? No. The gift set was honestly a joke! It was a LDR tote bag with a key chain, a poster that you should just throw away because honestly you could print off the same one on google, and it’s not even signed! “you could get a way better one at the merch table because at least that one has her face on it,” and a note book that doesn’t even say LDR on it! It seemed like they just threw together whatever was left after her last show and where like here u go. The next thing, there was nothing stopping the general admission from once they got in from pushing past the vips to the front. Now the did have a balcony which seemed like the best place to be you could lean on the metal rail, hell, “they even had seats!” You couldn’t get upstairs unless you have a blue wrist band. VIPs have yellow. I still do not know how you get a blue wrist band? So was the extra money worth ten minutes before GA a tote I could fill up with stuff from amazon for around I’m guessing $20 and still not being able to see the stage no I hope none of my favorite artist play ever again at the District because I do not...
Read moreThe music venue seems more like it was designed by a naive city council than someone with any idea of what they were doing.
Thankfully the act I saw brought a great crew so the sound was good but the people in the crowd around me were worried due to past experiences.
The worst part about this place among many things has to be the security staff. This group of Tin-pot Napoleons completely ruined the show for me due to their hyper aggressive behavior by yelling at the crowd for very minor issues and shinning flashlights at people who forgot to turn the flash off their camera... How ironic. I'd much rather a few cameras with flash than 10 super bright flashlights waving from all directions. They claimed that's what the artists want, but I've seen this act many times and that's completely untrue. You're concert security, not Secret Service. Let people have some fun. You don't have to be cracking the whip for every little thing. Someone dropped their phone so two people were using their flash to find it and one of the power-drunk meatheads had to stand on the barricade and scold them. Blocking the view of all the people in that area and interrupting the music happening on stage. Absolutely pathetic.
The place itself is poorly designed. The stage is too shallow and the ceiling is too high. The are lights placed on the ceiling but they aren't adjusted for the ceiling's hight which then casts shadows on the artists.
There's a small foyer that, like the rest of this place, is good in theory but doesn't flow well. It's too small and this, along with the location of Will Call, causes bottlenecking and confusion. This could be avoided by having multiple lines but that's too difficult for the dumb security. It does however have a lot of room really convenient parking. Which is the only nice thing I have to say about this place.
Avoid it if you can but it doesn't seem like there's many other options in the area...
Read more0 stars, if I could give them an honest rating. Me and my husband came over to see Bad Omens with Beartooth on Aug 18, 2022. From the moment we first stepped in. The security guards were very hostile, told me that I should just leave my coat behind “cause it’s hot inside”. Mind you, we came for Bad Omens and to buy from their merch table, the only pockets I had for my phone and wallet, plus for the merch we planned on getting after, was in my windbreaker at the time. (Long story short; We went to their show in Council Bluffs and we didn’t buy anything 2 weeks prior to this. We came to the show last minute to see them again. We wanted to get shirts and a signed drum-head to have) Anyway, I barely take a step forward, about to open my arms wide for the pat down, and to say that “We’re not gonna be here for long, we just want to see Bad Omens and buy merch from them”. But they cut me off. They all went hostile, yelling at us and roughly treating us like we just tried to make a run for it and then gave us dirty looks. Quite a nice entry.
Me and my husband watched Bad Omens’ set then went to buy at their merch table. Their merch guy was nicer than everyone working there! We head out, enjoyed the first half of the show and would head home. On the way out, one of the female staff grabbed my husband by his shoulder, yelled at him that we weren’t allowed back inside after leaving, which again we only came for one band. He tells her that we’re leaving, came for the band, and got what we wanted. She kept asking, “Are you sure?!”. Then her whole demeanor changed and she said “Good!” Like she was relieved that we were leaving. She must’ve let her racism show then she probably realized how she came off as and tried to apologize, which we ignored and left the property.
The only good parts of the show were seeing the band and meeting Nicholas Ruffilo after leaving!
We haven’t been back to this venue and...
