Cuban Pete’s Express at Willowbrook — Restaurant in Wayne

I had order the churrasco bowl. Which is similar like the salad bowl at chipotle . I had order rice, steak, pico , mango. What’s not to like? The place is neat , the employees working there could be a bit nicer. I was in line which I thought was a line, until someone ask the people standing next to me what they wanted to order. Well I was on line first for like 7 mins. Then the guy behind the counter say rudely, are you getting a bowl or a sandwich! I’m thinking, well unlike the other businesses, there are signs letting customers know where to order. Anyways, the customers next to me, let me go first, which was nice considering they were still thinking. The rice was kinda on the dry hard side, maybe because they just open when I got there around noon, the pico was only just onions and maybe a few pieces of tomato skins, barely any cilantro and the mango was decent, and he didn’t ask if I wanted any sauce. He just packed it and left and then the cashier was like , Is that yours. ? If I had the time I would definitely go to the one in Montclair but if you are in a hurry, this express isn’t bad, but it’ll be nice if the employees are a bit nicer and explain to you how to order when it’s your first time and have signs up so customers will know where to stand to order. . I visited this location and was so happy to order some authentic food, I went with my friend. We both have been to Cuban Pete’s in Montclair and we thought the willow brook location would treat us the same. We were wrong. As My friend for some reason got much more food than I did even though we both paid the same price, I decided not to make this a big deal even though the service was already lacking. As I purchased my food I realized I needed utensils. So I asked and was told they do not have any utensils to give. So I asked what I was supposed to do and they said I could walk around the mall and try to find a fork somewhere else. As this was the last straw I asked for the manager and I was told they don’t have a manager in the store right now. So I requested a refund, for food that I have not even touched yet. And they told me no they do not do refunds. This was extremely disappointing and the food was old and stale. I will not be going back to this location and i find it sad that the Cuban Pete’s in Montclair has to share the same name as this sorry excuse for...

When they first opened, it was amazing. They did everything proper. The food was great now the food is like stale. It’s been sitting there for hours. The one person is new. I guess because I have gone there frequently. Didn’t understand what I was ordering from the menu, this is the penil con Tostones and I have to ask for the onions because they do not make it like the place in Montclair . The other young kid never saw him either there. Great I got 2 plantains which usually that’s not the case usually four and usually much more meat. And I always get a side of Plantains also and they put two for the side usually again it’s a lot more. And they were stale you could see the color and hard as hell. Definitely not what it used to be.
