What a find! Like an old Perkins before they became so corporate. Food was great. Our party got eggs Benedict which has a pretty solid hollandaise, perfectly cooked eggs and the ham was delicious. Blueberry pancakes also delicious with whipped cream. Chili was reported as "good, but not hot (temperature-wise)" and the cornbread was ok if a little dry. Commercial (open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy) was pretty exceptional with a focus on the gravy that really made the whole meal... side of green beans with it was useless and very bland. Other food items were pretty good as well.
Service was solid, place was pretty packed and 2 servers were perfect, you could tell well seasoned veterans and deserving of being such with the high quality of attention provided to our 7 person party.
Restaurant was pretty clean despite the "run down" ambience that was intentional and adorable. The bit of feedback is the fans in the bathroom are super dusty and gross, and there's no "touchless" opportunities for the door.
Otherwise very happy we found this place. Oh, and very reasonably priced on everything. Despite being in Wayzata, they aren't trying to gouge their customers which is a huge plus.
We will be back,...
Read moreMy son and I enjoyed a wonderful pizza from Maggie's tonight! I am definitely looking forward to picking up another pizza from here, and there are very few places that make pizza that I enjoy! Please note that I said that I was looking forward to picking up another pizza....I will never sit down to eat at this restaurant again! There was gum underneath every table. The service left a lot to be desired. I wouldn't say that they were rude, rather...our server didn't know the first thing about serving. I can't remember the last time that I went to a restaurant and did not have my water glass refilled! I also wasn't thrilled to listen to the staff jabber the evening away talking about cheap frozen pizzas. Yes, they were out of sight...but I really didn't need to hear their conversation. I was highly impressed with the recently remodeled restrooms, but the opinion was ruined with the watered down cheap pink soap put in to a Soft Soap Bottle. All in all, it felt like a dirty old diner that I wouldn't want to be caught dead in....but the pizza was outstanding for...
Read moreI wasn't going to publish this review because I would normally not let a less than positive experience potentially affect a business. However, I think this experience warrants my review.
Ordered some carry out from Maggie's. The deep fried items, which included fish (which didn't look like it was fresh by any means,) fries, and onion rings, were quite obviously cooked in oil that should have been changed at least a couple of days ago. The burger was completely overcooked and underseasoned. All of it was rather soggy. The kitchen itself, at least the part that I could see while waiting, was not very clean, and no one behind the counter wore aprons, gloves, hairnets, or any other protective items.
Now, I would usually give a place the benefit of doubt because even the highest end places have off-days. However, the thing that made me decide to post this review is the fact that this food really upset our stomachs. Not to the level of food poisoning (wouldn't wish THAT on anyone), but definitely enough to make us feel a little nauseous and have...
