Disappointed by Rude Management and Poor Service
I stopped at this Sonic in Webb City after a long, exhausting drive from Oklahoma City. I was tired, hungry, and thirsty, and just wanted a quick bite and drink before unpacking my car. I ordered a Route 44 Sprite with strawberry, sweet cream, and coconut, along with a queso bacon snack wrap. My total came to a little over $7, and I had $6.98 on my Chime card plus $1.50 in cash—so I asked to do a simple split payment.
The carhop was polite and said she’d check with her manager. By the time the manager, Erica, came out, I had already started eating and drinking (because I’m human and I was hungry and thirsty). Erica was rude and unprofessional from the start. Instead of trying to help, she immediately started with attitude, repeating things like “I don’t know, I just work here,” and “We don’t do split payments.” She even sarcastically suggested I go to McDonald’s, which had absolutely nothing to do with the situation.
I offered suggestions politely, like applying a discount or ringing up part of the order, but she wasn’t interested in solving the problem—only in escalating it. She actually threatened to call the police on me for “stealing,” while she was literally holding my money in her hand and refusing to process it. I told her to go ahead and call, since there are no signs anywhere stating split payments aren’t accepted here.
In the end, she said I “deserved to have this for free,” handed me back my card, and walked away. For the record—I wasn’t asking for free food. I was trying to pay, like any reasonable customer.
Erica’s behavior was completely unprofessional, and I hope Sonic corporate looks into how she’s representing their brand. A manager should know how to de-escalate and help resolve issues—not talk down to customers, make threats, or refuse to process a legitimate payment.
Be warned: this Sonic apparently doesn’t accept split payments, and the manager might treat you like a...
Read moreHave not been back here in years. But I thought I would try it again. Don't go back! It's worse than before. Ordered on the Sonic app which was easy then when we arrived notified them we were there. It took 10min longer than the estimated time. When we got our bag it didn't have my kids wacky pack, I asked and the car hop said it was in the bag. So I drove home opened to find that it was not in the bag. I called the store and asked about it. Talked to a woman don't remember a name. She said they had it and I can come and get it. Call when we get there. She asked twice who the car hop was, didn't know that. But at no point did she apologize to me about this problem. I drove back then called back and said I was here for the wacky pack. She said they are going to drop it in the grease to give hot food (which it was.) Then another car hop delivered our food a few minutes later. He asked if we needed anything else, then handed me a $1 off coupon. Again no apology. I understand mistakes happen, but in the hospitality industry an apology is a requirement. And own the problem, a $1 off coupon is not solving anything except guaranteeing I will never come back to this Sonic again! I reccomend none come here either! Just...
Read moreLove the bacon cheeseburger!. They need a lighter coating on the onion rings I think and the chili is abominable. However, the folks are always very nice and about 99.9% accurate on our orders. We eat there once or twice a week.
I reviewed this quite a while back but I have to add more to it right now. I wanted to try the new sausage egg and cheese biscuit. So I stopped by the Stones corner store last week and tried one. It had a little thin piece of egg, the sausage patty was smaller than the biscuit and it had so much salt in it it was inedible. So yesterday we stopped into the Webb City store for lunch and thought we would try the biscuit. It had a nice thick soft perfectly cooked and seasoned piece of scrambled egg. The sausage Patty was actually bigger than the biscuit which was tender flavorful and warm. These guys really know how to do it right! Best Sonic I have...
