First time dining here... and last.
Hygiene: I'm very sorry to report this considering it is one of the grossest things I have witnessed in a restaurant. I was washing my hands in the bathroom and an employee exists a stall, begins pulling her hair back into a bun, turns on the water, quickly rinses her hands and then wipes them with a paper towel. SHE NEVER USED SOAP!! I was utterly shocked and even more so when I rounded the corner and saw her in the tortilla making area... she was the one making tortillas!!a AND, given it was but a second after she left the ladies room there is NO WAY she could have washed her hands in the kitchen. That is just disgusting.
Service: it was okay. We went at 2pm on a Sunday- received chips and salsa about 5 minutes before drinks. My friend's order came out slightly wrong but that is no whoop and not the waitresses fault. We did not get silverware and after waiting a couple of minutes I went to the front to get 2 sets. We were never offered a refill on our empty drinks but the waitress did bring me a water to go when I asked. She was nice but only a par waitress.
Food- on the whole ... no! Just no! The one shining star wad the taco- yummy! BUT, Salsa is chunky which I like but it was overpowered by jalapeno and cilantro. I love cilantro but there was way too heavy hand in making it. My friend did like the guacamole/sour cream dip but I found it revolting. The cheese enchilada was a doughy flour tortilla with what appeared to be shredded cheese melted in the middle. It was hard to tell though because you can barely find the cheese. The chili sauce was very dark and typically what some restaurants serve on tamales. The entire ensemble was just not good.
We were able to get a table immediately, which was good because I am pregnant and hungry. The staff seemed nice and smiled a lot. But the food.... No way is that considered good Mexican. I have done worse at a hole in the wall in the Heights but truly this was the second worse Mexican food I have ever eaten. How this place has 4.2 stars is beyond my understanding and...
Read moreThis Chuy's is the worst Chuy's I've ever been to. The hostess seated us with no greeting and seemed like she hated her job and didn't even wait for us to get around the corner before she walked away. The server was even worse (this is coming from a past server). She paid more attention to one party table than she did us and the other 2 tables, mind you she only had four tables and it was when they just opened. She was sitting down at this table talking to them more than she was checking on her other tables. She took our drink orders seemed annoyed that we both wanted water and then my friend ordered the customized your own enchiladas and got cheese enchiladas with queso on top and the server seemed annoyed and slightly mad about that. When she got her enchiladas they were ice cold but she was too scared to say anything to me about it because she knew I would flag the waitress down and she didn't want the waitress tampering with our food. I would also like to add that we were sat near the bar where we could see everything going on behind the bar. During our 30-minute meal I witnessed at least four different employees go over to the margarita machine at least twice each and take cups of Margaritas. Then sat there and drank them right behind the bar. We had to wait another 10 or 15 minutes after we finished our meal to even receive our check. I will never be returning to this Chuy's again. Save yourself the trouble and go to the one off Fairmont. That...
Read moreOur visit was a last minute, slam on the brakes, jerk the wheel to the right into the parking lot, restaurant pick. We just wanted a photo of the name but due to the fantastically coordinated symphony of aromas, we decided to stay. Once inside, we were greeted swiftly and seated almost as fast. Our waiter/waitress (my apologies for not asking her/his/they’s preferred pronoun) Branin, was an angel sent from heaven. They brought our drinks in a blink, and took our order at the same time. Our queso and waters, chips, salsa and creamy jalapeño sauce came out at the same time. We ordered fajitas, mixed, because who doesn’t like chicken and steak and shrimp. Y’all when I tell you it was like a choir of cherubs singing to my tastebuds. The absolute perfection of the balance of spices in every dish was just amazing. I ate more than I intended and would have continued to eat if my jeans had not become far too tight. And the service… outstanding doesn’t even begin to describe it. Branin is a spectacular server. They went out of their way to make sure our experience was second to none. If their manager is reading this, they deserve a promotion. At least get them into management training! It would be a disservice for your company to not promote them!
Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic experience. 10 outa 10 will most definitely be back!!
My apologies for not getting a picture when we got the food but my nose, eyes and stomach would not...
