Met some friends here for a bite and some beers before a show at nearby Scout Bar. I had heard great things about this place through various food and beer blogs, but this was my first time visiting.
Interior was nice, several TVs with sports on above the bar. Also a fairly spacious dining room and good size patio out front. There was a bassist and saxophonist playing some smooth jazz in the corner, nice and chill.
The tap wall was quite impressive. Tried 2 IPAs that I had never seen anywhere else (Hops & Grain A Pale Mosaic and Alpine Pure Hoppiness - both delicious by the way). There were plenty of other styles to choose from as well, from stouts to ciders.
Staff was very friendly and informative, as were the regulars at the bar. As far as the food goes, I had the pork banh mi and it was great. The french bread had that perfect, almost chewy texture that a good banh mi should have, meat was flavorful and the toppings crisp and fresh. My friends had the shaking beef and the beef stew special. They said everything was good and it smelled delicious. Our food came out seriously like 5 minutes after we ordered and it was busy when we were there (Wednesday evening about 6:30). Heck yeah! Apparently they only do pho on Sundays and only lasts until they run out. I overheard the bartender tell a customer that sometimes they can sell out in 45 minutes, so you better get there when they open if you want to do that.
All in all a cool place. Vietnamese food and good beer....how can you go wrong with that? Only downside is that I live in Sugar Land and can't come here regularly. Highly...
Read moreI enjoyed my chicken soup (I asked for no pasta) and the broth was rich and tasty. The chicken in it, was also good and freshly grilled. This gave the entire soup a charcoal flavor, which I enjoyed it first, but halfway through it got a little overwhelming. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't order again, I just think I would like some vegetables in it. I also ordered shrimp and chicken spring rolls; again the chicken was grilled inside the roll so I knew it was freshly wrapped. there was one shrimp cut through its midline so that it looked like two, lots of noodles, romaine and carrots. the rolls were nice and fat and I was very impressed, until halfway through, it split open because the roll is open on both ends. Yes, all 3 of them. I've never had a spring roll with open ends. I'm not sure why you would do that, because inevitably I would think it would fall out. The peanut sauce was just okay, and I'm not sure why. The bathrooms were clean, always a good sign. The service was a little on the slow side. but even after all of this, I would give them another try. Everyone always gets three tries with me, I always try to be fair and specific. I'm not a beer drinker, but the bar was pretty packed, it does look like a popular nice new place and I hope they do well. I'll be back to try more...
Read moreOne of my best friends told me about this place when we first moved into the SE area. He loves their beer selection and said their food was actually pretty solid. I can't drink beer but I sure can eat!
My wife and I came here for lunch. It's in a little bit of a run down strip center, but they totally renovated the space. From the interior pictures you would not expect it to be the way it is when you pull up. It feels like a place in montrose/washington area that got planted right in the Webster/Clearlake area.
As far as the food, we ordered the Nobi Dog, which is like a hybrid of a gourmet hotdog with a banh mi. Very good! Only thing that could have made it better is the bread coming out hot. Don't think they toast the bread.
We also got the garlic butter wings, which was actually my favorite! These things are super crispy and very flavorful. You can tell they use a little bit of sugar that gives it a little bit of sweetness.
Finally, we ordered the Shaking Beef with fried rice. The portion size is good for the price My only complaint here is the beef was a bit on the salty side. The service was on point, it looks like they work as a team here.
Overall, this is a great place if you enjoy craft beer (lots of selection) and enjoy Asian/Vietnamese...
