I want to like this place, I really do. The food is good, the portions are decent, the prices are fair. But...the service is poor at best. The servers seem they could care less about you. They don't interact much, are fairly unfriendly, and in the 20+ times I've eaten here, not once have they asked if the meal was satisfactory after serving it or if there was anything I needed. They do come around once to see if I need another beverage, but that's all. I ate there this week at about 3PM and the guy in charge was on the phone the entire time. I had to ask another worker to please put on some music to drown out his personal phone conversation.
If I had to guess, I'd say there is no manager in charge of the Wellington restaurant. Part of the price of eating out is to have a pleasant interaction with the folks who work there. These people never want to interact, joke, talk, or laugh with the guests, which I think is just a missed opportunity to build goodwill and leave the customers feeling like their money was well spent.
And, for my vegan and vegetarian friends...beware the bean dip they serve when you sit down as it contains lard (animal fat). You would think that in 2023 they could use veg oil in the beans, but not here. The black beans are safe, however. All in all, this place is a disappointment but with the scant choices in Wellington, I will no doubt be back to see if they can improve. Not holding my...

Wellington is a small town, the last stop for travelers heading north to Wyoming. If you’re traveling through, this is your best bet for a yummy meal.
The food is consistently delicious, with generous portions and reasonable prices. We’ve never had a bad meal in the 5 or so years we’ve been dining here. Great salsa (chips are fine). My favorites are: carnitas place, enchiladas (cheese, green sauce, red sauce, cream sauce). The margaritas are fantastic, and it’s a geberous pour (prepare to get buzzed - i usually cannot finish obe over dinner). Great for kids, as they allow sharing without a surcharge. Take out is reliable- same quality and they always get the order right.
Decor / ambiance is festive and colorful. Staff is friendly and efficient. Management is super responsive to guests. The one and only issue we had (they mixed up a togo order and gave us two separate plates instead of a combo) was quickly resolved with a friendly apology and our choice of a refund or gift card for the inconvenience of getting too much food… how’s that for great customer service.
We’ll definitely be back, and soon (remembering their mouthwatering carnitas and planning our weekend...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I have given this place many chances... I really want to like it as it is the only Mexican restaurant in town but I just can't honestly recommend it. They have a clean restaurant and it's nicely decorated, staff is normally friendly and attentive.
It's just that this place is so hit or miss when it comes to the food...
Maybe once or twice we walked away thinking "hey that was not bad". More frequently we walk away disappointed. Last two times either the meat (same item) was really over-salted (and I love salt) or it was just really bland.
That would be okay if they had some spicy sauce to complement.
Sadly they have nothing on the menu that is remotely spicy. That's fine in an Italian restaurant but in a Mexican restaurant you should be able to order something you can later regret.
Also, it's expensive for Mexican food and the individual adult drink prices are way out of line. Our bill lately runs $45 for food for two people with one beer and one margarita and tip. FYI, check the bill..., last time we got overcharged.
Like I said, I really want to like this place and we will probably go back again in the hope they have sorted themselves out, just not...
