Consistently disappointing! After my most recent visit I really don't intend to ever go there again as it always falls short of my already bare-minimum expectations. I only ended up deciding to go there as they were listed as being open a little later than other nearby places & I didn't want to go somewhere too close to closing time so as not to inconvenience the kitchen & bar staff; they seated us, however we quickly realized they were very overtly trying to get an early start on shutting down/doing closing tasks. The trainer?/manager? lady was yelling instructions across the room to her colleague (who seemed very nice & sweet, I wish she were our server so I could have given her the hefty tip she deserved that night!).
ven though we wanted food we just ordered drinks among the 3 of us to accommodate their obvious rush to shut down ~90+ minutes early, but apparently even that was too much to ask. Grim.
Edited to add (at my husband's suggestion as I had forgotten the "cherries on the cupcake" as it were 🤣) that 1 of the "3 drinks" we ordered was just a simple water for me that they couldn't be arsed to ever bring over and so I never got, didnt make a fuss and smiled and shrugged it off, but when I stepped outside to make a phone call (actually trying to be considerate calling around to see what places WERE still open according to their hours & serving food, thought it would be kinda awkward & rude if I made those calls right at the table here!) they literally locked me out!! I was stuck outside on the porch wondering if the lock was jammed or if I suddenly forgot how to open a door or something, but no, they straight up locked me outside and I had to blow up my husband's phone hoping he would hear it ring in his pocket 😂 i was only outside for a few minutes right outside the door on their porch and it was still ~30 or so minutes before their closing time so that was rather, ah, odd...anyways, thanks to anyone who took the time to read my diatribe here, moral of the story is, this place does not deserve your business. You're 1000x better off ordering some stuffed cheesy bread from dominos than setting foot in this...
Read moreMy husband and I wanted a little trip from Portland and just browsing around on Google maps we found this place. The pictures enticed us in, but the experience is what made this place the dining highlight of the year! We found such a gem, a place I absolutely can't wait to go back to! Everyone talks to the atmosphere and they're not wrong, we got there early on a Saturday and we were seated by the fireplace without a reservation. Coming from the dark and cold into this place, I can't tell you how cozy it was and then when our food arrived I got the bangers and mash, my husband had the shepherd's pie. The food was like a warm hug, and so filling I was full for days. I was full halfway through my plate and I kept eating because I din't want to leave! Best carrots I've ever had and the onion gravy is literally probably the best gravy I've ever had in my entire life from any thanksgiving or any Christmas. Like I said we got there early and by the time our food arrived it was packed to the gills and I heard from the nearby bar that there was a 45 minute wait. If you think I'm gushing it's just because I'm looking at the menu dreaming of what I'm going to order next and...
Read moreTerrible service and obnoxious atmosphere if you are going for dinner. Got there a bit after 8 pm on a Saturday after travelling 4 hours up to Maine for vacation. Asked for a table in the dining room, ended up being seated in the bar when it wasn't that busy in the dining area. A couple seated after us was approached before us by the waitress and served their drinks before we were even acknowledged. Finally got to order drinks, hubby's root beer came out flat and not in the frosted glass he was promised. Waitress said she'd be back to take our order even though we were ready to order when we got our drinks. She didn't come back. The atmosphere was overly loud due to the DJ doing karaoke, he kept turning up the volume to the point that we couldn't hear each other talk across a very small table. Since we didn't get to order, we didn't eat. Not...
